Take a look at this video:

To make it short:
This guy has found a working US version of 64DD. It came with developer floppy. The 64DD can't read it without a special developer's cardridge (which still exist, but these cardridges are very, very rare).

I thought about it, and it would be nice if someone gave him the dev cartridge, but they're probably too expensive and noone would do it. But maybe there is some way to dump it?
And no, I'm not this guy, but maybe with help of the modding community we could take a small look at what's inside this floppy. It can contain almost every game that Nintendo has announced for 64DD, this includes:
EarthBound 64,
Fire Emblem 64,
Ura Zelda.

You can almost guarantee that anyone with the know-how and interest (like Luigiblood) is already well aware of it, if not already making efforts to get it dumped. It's a nice thought that it might contain one of the Rare and Secret Lost Treasures, but realistically it's more likely just a tech demo, or a game that was already released in Japan, maybe translated. Would be cool to find out either way.

So 64DD uses zip drives? But the floppys look different.
looks to me like the blu double layer versions a friend had... think it's the same since that's the most easy system nintendo could add to the console... it means they did the samething as a copybox did for the devs, just with sdk's maybe. i don't have one though but would be the easiest thing to do for nintendo... otherwise devs needed to have a flash burner to test thier games wich would make it to easy to clone games.

64DD disks are 64MB floppy disks. Can only be read on 64DD drives.

And yes, I am well aware of it, even before this video was out.
So how do you dump it? If it's via 64DD then how is it modded? Is it possible to dump a floppy even when 64DD refuses to read it?

Only 64DDs can read it.
Grey disks can only be read on retail units.
Blue disks can only be read on development units.

The cheapest way to dump disks in both cases is to own a 64drive (AND NOT AN EVERDRIVE 64) and use my dumpers (which I will not link because my website has dumps on it), and of course the needed 64DD drive for which ever kind of disks you're dealing with.

http://www.nesworld.com/article.php?system=n64&data=n64-howtodumproms could this be modified for those without 64drive? (can dump ~512mbit top cart, but idk if it could ever work for dd same as 64drive?)

I know everdrive 64 doesn't allow legit 64dd games to run for some reason when its plugged in, but this might be a handy alternate to 64drive?

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways

@Psionic Roshambo AI assisted game creation is kinda already here, there was recently that AI that can turn any 2D image into a fully modeled 3D object, it's not perfect, but it's a starting point, beats starting from zero

but most recently, there was one that actually generates a working unity scene with terrain and textures already set up that you can import right into unity, that's a huge time saver right there
