Not currently. Rent or buy one of the games used, they're dirt cheap.
does this work on 5.5.1? thanks
This works on basically any WiiU firmware, since it doesn't actually modify anything on the WiiU side, only Wii Mode. But yes, it will work on the latest firmware. Follow this guide to the letter.

Glad you are around lol. I am going to be very busy over the next few days at least, I probably won't have time to respond or do much here. Nice to know you and Cyan still reply to this thread haha.

I only reply to some things. Most of the time I get fed up with people clearly not following directions, but I'll help people that genuinely look confused. :D

3 words: BUY A WII.

Why? With a Wii U you get a hackable Wii U, plus a hackable Wii. If you have a Wii U, there is literally no upside to also having a Wii, with some very obscure exceptions that aren't worth it for basically anyone.

The only reason to have a Wii is for native Gamecube support (for games and controllers). That's it, which is something that we can get on the WiiU with some tinkering.

Ok, assuming they already have a Wii U and no Wii, you would recommend they go buy a Wii for Gamecube support even though this way they don't have to do so? You say native control, what is that exactly?

Native Control in Nintendon't enables GBA Link Cable support, along with other special Gamecube controllers like DK Bongos. But it also disables Wii controller use such as the classic controller. EDIT: Wow, go out of your way to find or create that meme. Such dedication to this argument :glare:

It's absurd to insist people go out and find a Wii just for native control in Nintendont, when they can instead just use the GameCube adaptor with a WiiU. Not to mention that you can just use Pro controllers. (Which are either as expensive or cheaper than a used Wii would be).

Most people don't care about using GBA Link cables. The average person just wants access to GameCube games on their WiiU. Hell, if you want native support, just tell them to buy a GameCube.

hi there, kind of a noob question here. I tried to search for the answer, but I couldn't really find what I wanted to know. So I'd like to mod my vWii, but I'm unsure if I want to actually go through with ordering one of the necessary game discs yet, and here's why: I've seen some people say to just rent one *like just up there ^^^* and that made me wonder if it's really necessary to buy one of the discs for exploit.

After I install the HBC and follow the rest of the steps with dumping and all that, will I need the disc again to open the HBC? Isn't the exploit solely for installing the channel? Because if I can just rent the game, use it once, and never need it again then that'd be awesome.

I'm sorry if this has been made clear and I just totally missed it. Thanks

Yes, the game is simply to run the exploit to install HBC. The game will not be needed whatsoever after that (provided you don't screw up and need to run the HackMii installer again, but the chances of you messing up are slim if you follow this guide).

I suppose I was one of those exceptions, with a stack of Gamecube discs to dump ;)
