Infinity firmware, its not FULLY A cfw, but more like an hybrid firmware.
It takes 6.31 and 6.61 and creates an hybrid firmware, it uses a vulnerability found on 6.31 in order to execute homebrew code during the boot process.
it uses 3 applications:
The Builder: its the builder to create the hybrid firmware using both OFW.
The Flasher: installs the hybrid firmware.
And the Infinity boot-loader configuration: this selects the custom firmware that this going to be launched each time the psp turns on.

as i stated before, infinity its a semi permanent patcher for "forbbiden boards" on the psp.

The forbidden mobo started with the ta-085v2, and it cant create a Pandora battery, kinda useless now days afaik. the only PSP you really should avoid, its the PSP E1000, aka PSP Street.
as i also mentioned above, your best pick would be the Psp Go! also, hacing a permanent patch on a psp its not a big deal, at least not for me, turning a CFW ON with just launching an app, its not that tiring.

O yeah, btw, you dont need to make it permanent, you can also use the CFW-PRO, that's the one i always used.

Thanks!
Also what CFW would you recommend to use with it, since you stated you boot and turn on a specific CFW with it. :)

"Psp Go! also, hacing a permanent patch on a psp its not a big deal, at least not for me, turning a CFW ON with just launching an app, its not that tiring." I'll keep in mind this!

No worries, and yeah any psp should do the work, just dont ge the E1000 nor the 1000, the first one sucks most of the time, and the 1000 has low internal memory, so emulators and what so, would kinda run very low.

the go its by far my favorite on the psp scene, due the design and portability, but people sometimes dont like the form factor an have problems with the ergonomic, however, that's just my like, you can pick anyone you like, but again, avoid the PSP-1000 and the PSP-e1000.

I agree with avoid 1000. screens are terrible they have a blur effect when playing certain games.

but they were cool at the time of release once cfw started coming out and you could use IRshell

Yeah I personally don't like the Go's design, really like the 2000 and 3000 models though!
(I just checked it out.)
the 2000 has a better screen display (brighter colors / more vibrant)

the 3000 has scanlines bUT still both are good I owned both years ago now I just have my vita.

edit: 3000 is brighter mybad got that mixed up it also has a mic. but still has scanlines.

Has anyone ever documented the most notable differences between PRO-C firmware and LME/ME/Neuron's firmware?
I take it they're just different approaches for the same thing but, i can't seem to find them well documented here or in wololo.

I use PRO-Cfix3 on 6.60 and 6.61 for the two psps i own, been thinking of switching to infinity, but to flash a frankenfirmware on purpose just to gain a burst of speed for cfw at boot doesn't really seem worth it to me...

Sorry, this may be a bit of a hijack, quick question, I promise! If I have that "Slim & Lite" PSP on 6.20 autobooting PRO CFW, should I update to 6.61 for Infinity?

I think they have different ways to do online gaming. Also, I believe Pro-C has trouble with some PSN titles from changes made after Pro-B 10. This is fixed with Yoti ProMod5. Bottom line: they're the same.

But, online gaming does not work anymore AFAIK with the psn being down and all since last year...
That is what PROC-Fix3 fixes, C2 however does not work with psx-psn titles very well.

I just play some Miku on it and that works. But if Infinity is any better, I'm installing straight away because I love experimenting!
If you are lime me, and jump around software, just for the hack of it, go with inifnity. JUST FOR THE SAKE OF IT, since its an hybrid firmware, i dont know exactly the stability of that firmware.
However, if u want stability for sure, go with 6.61 custom firmware pro.

Low Custom Firmware: its made by Neur0n and its pointed to Forbidden Boards. it can be used on any PSP, however, its suggested the use on ta82-v5 boards and up..

Time Machine Custom Firmware: its made by neur0n,however, his firmware CANT be installed on Psp3000, Psp-e3000,and Psp Go!,The firmware runs on the memory stick, and does not install on the psp, this can be used to Un-brick psp with normal motherboard aka =! ta82-v5 and up.

Custom Firmware Pro: This custom firmware, its made by Virtuous Flame and Coldbird, its one of the most stable and completes custom firmware. as it resembles the old custom firmware m33 and DAX from Dark_AleX and the M33 Team.
