I think the same.

The thread opener should try to backup all files to a computer and the he should use emunand9 payload to start emunand9 and format the sd card with option "no emunand".
Afterwards he should try to restore all files from the computer to the sdcard and see if the 3ds boots.
Errrr... Nope... If the emunand is on 9.2, he (or she?) have just to backup the emunand and restore it to the sysnand with decrypt9.
edit: it seems ok....
Are you sure you have a9lh? (the 3ds shutdowns itself if no sd card is inserted)?

No one here seems to be aware of the fact that Plailect changed his guide. He now tells people to downgrade to 2.1 and install A9LH while on 2.1. The OP however, decided it was a good idea to never create any nand dumps.

Wow, what a great tutorial!
That's two gbatemp thread creation sins at once: posting in the tutorial section and making a noob help thread.
Also, you committed the most stupid 3ds hacking sin of them all: not making any nand dumps.

If you can't boot without SD. Just delete your Home Menu extdata. That's the reason 2.1 won't boot after being downgraded. If you can't find Home Menu's extdata. Just delete/rename Nintendo 3DS folder on your SD card. It should boot after that. If not, you got a brick.

EDIT:

Judging from a photo you showed of SD root on the previous page. You may have bricked. In which case you'll need a nand mod. if your Arm9LoaderHax is working and you can use payloads. You can flash the ctr_nand partition of your 9.2 emunand (if you have one?) to your sysnand.

In fact if you have a 11.0 ctr_nand partition, you can flash that instead. Just be sure to also flash the TWLN partition as well as you likely have differing TWL content on that 11.0 emunand. At this point 9.2 emunand on a A9HL setup isn't really needed anymore since things like Decyrpt9 can be booted directly via A9HL.

When using Decrypt9 to move the emunand to sysnand. flash ONLY the CTR_NAND and TWLN partitions. Do NOT touch the FIRM partitions and do NOT do a complete NAND restore of 11.x emunand. That would effectively uninstall your A9LHax and leave you with an updated console. Only do the CTR_NAND and TWLN partitions!

EDIT2:

Also never downgrade directly from 10.x to 2.1. Downgrade to 9.2/9.0 first so you can make a NAND backup/setup emunand. If you don't even have an emunand or nand backup...That was stupid. If you can somehow manage to boot your 2.1 sysnand. You can use a game or System Settings to update it to 11.x. Just be sure to use a CFW like Luma3DS which has FIRM partition protections. If using Luma, it will be safe to update it to latest since you have an o3DS. Updating from 2.1 on a n3DS will always brick so be glad you did not make this mistake on a n3DS.

I have an old 3DS XL

Thank you~! Now I can properly help you.

Edit: Basically I am assuming you installed A9LH successfully, and can load up arm9 payloads though Luma3DS' chainloader.

Please ensure you have your OTP.bin before attempting the below. It should be inside the/a9lh/ folder after you installed A9LH on 2.1. If you don't, then don't worry, we'll get it in a bit.

Follow this part of the guide to get SafeA9LHInstaller setup as a payload.
Link: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Updating-arm9loaderhax

Once you get to Step 7 though, I want you uninstall A9LH.

If this works, you should no longer have A9LH, and should be able to boot into 2.1. Make sure you still have your OTP.bin for this console, we will need it later.

If you don't have your OTP.bin, then I want you to follow this.
Link: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/9.2.0-Update-(Browser-OTP)
Once you have your OTP.bin continue with the rest of my info to get you out of your situation.

Now for the tricky part. You'll need a game with a 4.X.X or a 6.X.X update on it, if you can manage that, then you are in luck~! Yay~! If you can't go, then go and find one.
Follow these steps for the game cart update: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/9.2.0-Update-(Cart-Update)
Then from there, you want to move to this: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/9.2.0-Update-(rxTools-2.5.2)

Here is the chart basically showing you how to get out of your situation and back to 9.2.0
Link: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/9.2.0-Update

Once back on 9.2.0 and with your OTP.bin.
You'll want to basically read over the parts after the steps here, telling you how to get A9LH back onto your system.
Link: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/9.2.0-Update-(Browser-OTP)

Now rejoice that you are out of your situation~!

I've uninstalled A9LH and i'm booted into system again, thanks a lot!
now i'll follow the other instructions

I have the Freakyforms cartridge that isntalls the 4.x.x version

PS: i already have my OTP.bin saved in my Mega account

Except, this is wrong. You can get out of 2.1 on N3DS. Although you'd need a hardmod more than likely.

Yay~ I was pretty sure I could help~ <3 But please don't do this again on another system, follow the guide to the letter next time, there is a reason it asks you to do everything a certain way.

Well yeah. But being that the OP's console was on 10.7, this implies they don't have emunand setup because it's a 10.7 console. Either way it's a bad idea to downgrade from a 9.3+ console directly to 2.1. Go to 9.0/9.2 first so that you can make backups of NAND at least. Because it's a bad idea to do this without backups. If something goes wrong on th downgrade from 10.7 to 9.2, you can get into safe mode to update to 11.0. At least then you could still nand mod and downgrade FIRM partition using plaintext attack to try again.

But a failed downgrade (which is most likely what happened here) from 10.7 to 2.1 will seriously break things especially if the safe mode titles were downgraded before it errored out. FIRMs newer then 3.0 will not boot a 2.1 freakenfirm. So most likely got a brick right now.

At least a 9.2 freaknfirm will still boot into safe mode. But a 2.1 frankenfirm may have broken safe mode as well.

I've had people downgrade to 2.1, but did setup EmuNAND//RedNAND, and basically followed the whole guide, but ignored making backups. That's how I basically know how to get out of it, since I've seen people just follow the guide, but without making any NAND backups, because their SD Card was too small, and they thought it was unnecessary.

Anyways, it was a bad idea, but OP lucked out.

Except that's not at all what we had here. We had an OP that did successfully downgrade to 2.1, was it taking the biggest risk? Yeah. Definitely. And OP lucked out big time and got to 2.1 without bricking. I assumed OP got to 2.1 safely, because she mentioned that she had gotten her OTP.bin and had installed A9LH on 2.1. Now yes, I was making an educated assumption based just on that. So I was pretty sure, that I could provide a solution to her problem.

Anyways, she's confirmed that my instructions worked.

There are 3 links the guide provides. Did you try all 3? What is your full system version now? Do any other websites work?

My system is at 4.3.0-4U now
I've tried the first and the third one, going to try the second now
and yes, the nintendo website opens up correctly

Try them multiple times, and make sure all the files are in their correct place. Be sure to be using the files the guide makes you use, and not whatever you had laying around from previous stuff.

Second link, the reboot.ms one is the only that worked, back to the guide again

Yes, it is known, when a9lh is installed you will never be able to use your 3ds without your SD card inserted with an arm9loaderhax payload
not really true any more, shadownand can coot a9lh without a SD card inserted
https://gbatemp.net/threads/shadownand.431718/

that said i think most people will be using whatever a9lh the plai guide currently has listed (a9lh v2 i believe)

Yes i know that but for a regular user that won't be convenient
how could it not be convenient, it literally only adds something to the equation, if anything it makes a9lh more convenient and removes the last and only downfall of a9lh compared to a normal stock setup

it doesnt force you to use the feature either, its just there if needed, but most of the time you just use your normal cfw
