Hi guys. I'm on CFW but is probably outdated since I'm sure new stuff already came out. The guide I followed to get CFW on my N3DS even changed contents (now I don't have a reference to the guide I followed)!

Anyway, a few months ago I was able to create CIA files by generating an ncchinfo.bin file and using that file to generate XORPADS within Decrypt9. Those XORPADS then have to be used to create the CIA files.

I now need to do this again but it seems I can't run Decrypt9 anymore. So I'm left with an ncchinfo.bin file but I can't generate the XORPADS.

I use the hbl_launcher app inside the emuNAND and when I select Decrypt9WIP the screen shows some static and red color but after that I'm back to homebrew.

Any chance that you guys could help me out?

If you followed the guide then you've most likely got Decrypt9 set up to run when you hold down START as you turn on your 3DS, at least that's how mine works. Like you said, the guide's changed a bit recently but I think that bit will still be the same.

EDIT - nah... I'm wrong, that bit seems to have changed so Hourglass9 will run instead. Not quite sure the best way to alter it round but you should be able to substitute Decrypt9 for Hourglass9 and just rename the payload accordingly... if that makes sense?

I'm not too familiar with these stuff but would that mean I have to update everything? Like homebrew, CFW, loader, etc.?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I can't even go to homebrew by pressing and holding Down when booting. The only way I can get to homebrew is when I use the hbl_launcher app but when I open Decrypt9 in there it does nothing.
I never updated anything other than the emuNAND's version which is now in 11.0.0-U (I don't remember updating to this version but apparently I have it now - must be an auto-update). I think that affected my ability to run homebrews. FBI still works though.

You can't run decrypt9 through HBL, you need to use the chainloader to load the decrypt9 .bin

As Purge says, you can't run decrypt9 through HBL (any more).

I'm not sure why Hourglass9 has been substituted for Decrypt9 in the latest version of Plailect's guide as it's missing a few features (such as the xorpad function that you want) but if you look at the latest version of part 5 you get this bit...

Section I - Preparatory work
...
10 Copy Hourglass9.bin from the Hourglass9 zip to the /luma/payloads/ folder on your SD card
11 In the /luma/payloads folder, rename Hourglass9.bin to start_Hg9.bin

All you need to do is use Decrypt9WIP.bin in place of Hourglass9.bin and it should work fine. You don't need to do anything else.

Get yourself the latest version of Decrypt9WIP from https://github.com/d0k3/Decrypt9WIP/releases

Copy Decrypt9WIP.bin into the luma payloads folder and rename it so it has start_ at the beginning of the filename (the earlier guide said rename it to start_Dec9.bin so that's probably not a bad idea). Also delete start_Hg9.bin as you can't have more than one payload with the start_ prefix.

Then when you turn on your 3DS, holding down START should start Decrypt9 instead.

But but but....

I didn't update anything, I believe I'm still with the same version of homebrew and CFW where Decrypt9 used to work.
And yeah, I don't have luma since the guide I linked used to have instructions for AuReiNAND. Would that mean I have to follow the new guide from the beginning? Urgh.. :hateit:

Sorry, I've just re-read your earlier post and I misread it to mean that you'd followed the new guide.

As far as I can remember (and I'm half asleep now so apologies if I'm talking rubbish) Luma is just an updated version of AuReiNAND (or at least a better version). If you're on that then you could probably just substitute Luma for AuReiNAND in the guide you followed.

If, however, you've not installed AL9H then I'd definitely recommend doing so. You can pick up Plailect's guide from part 4 (I think) as you already have AuReiNAND so you wouldn't have to start all the way from the beginning. It's fairly time consuming but a lot of it is copying stuff back and forth and backing things up and it's not like you can't do something else at the same time... right? :) Just make sure to read everything a couple of times first and it'll go fine.

Because noobs would forget to flash back non-A9LH NAND backups without using the (Keep A9LH) option. And because 11.0 became a thing, people would end up on OFW 11.0 because they didn't read.

So to fix that, Hourglass9 is now used, to avoid noobs making that mistake. If the extra features of Decrypt9, are something someone wants, then they can just figure out how to set it up. But they really shouldn't be using Decrypt9 for NAND backups and restores, if they tend to forget the keep a9lh option, or when it applies to them.

Hourglass9 is also A9LH only, so it has a lot of safety built into it, so noobs don't mess up and do things they shouldn't.

I do have AL9H. Sigh, I guess I will have to do another marathon in fixing this console. Has anyone else done this before? I hate following guides where I start in the middle when there's a possibility of getting bricked. I'd rather follow a guide from the very first step.

Oh, one question before I dive into this. Will I lose my saved data? I have some games where I need to keep my saved data.

Dude, all you have to do is switch to the latest version of Luma, put all of your payloads in the correct folder (including decrypt9 obviously) and you're done.

Also if you're worried about losing your saves (and you shouldn't be because switching to Luma won't do anything to your game saves), you can just use JK save manager and back up all of them

Unfortunately illiteracy is quite common around here. Some people just shouldn't be messing with their 3DS. You can spoon feed them, give them the most detailed/elaborate guide you will ever find on A9LH and somehow half of them will find a way to fuck up. Nice PC build and avatar btw. Our PSUs, RAM and SSD are almost identical. I'm waiting on 1080 classified to finish my build

1. Back up your SD files in case you fuck up
2. Delete your aureinand stuff
3. Go here: https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases
4. Download the normal version of 5.5, not the dev version (it's the second one from the top)
5. Extract
6. Put arm9loaderhax.bin and the luma folder at the root of your SD card
7. Download latest version of D9 here: https://github.com/d0k3/Decrypt9WIP/releases
8. Extract
9. Download aeskeydb.bin here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzPfvjeuhqoDdGRPbzltTzJTRzg
10. Put decrypt9WIP.bin in your payload folder (it is inside the luma folder which should be at the root of your SD card)
11. Rename decrypt9WIP.bin to start_Dec9.bin
12. Put aeskeydb.bin at the root of your SD card
13. When you boot your 3DS, luma configuration menu should pop up. Enable whatever you need
14. After that, reboot your 3DS and hold down the start button (you need to press it fairly quickly). Decrypt9 should load

And for JKSM: go here: https://github.com/J-D-K/JKSM

All you need is the .cia file. Put in anywhere on your SD card, install it with FBI or BBM or whatever you use

I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it

Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.
