I was helping a guy out and for whatever reason emuNAND_original.bin (and .sha) are on his SD card root, but not showing up as an option the restore the REDNAND to SYSNAND in Hourglass9. When is was backup up it was originally named emuNAND.bin (and .sha) and it was renamed to emuNAND_original.bin, and then back again when it didnt show up. Any suggestions as to what is going wrong? emuNAND_formatted.bin is an option if we cant get _original.bin working, but would like advice on what could have went wrong.

Some question here.
I have rencently learnt about existence of CiaAngel, FBI 2.1 (with Qr code installation), Freeshop, etc. Basically they are some app that allows 3DS to download game and/or ticket on 3DS from Nintendo's server (without going through Eshop).

Except for what it allows to do, i haven't found yet information about what it does in the 3DS system/file/account/whatever.
I don't know what exactly are tickets, how it works, if and how nintendo checks them.

Ticket is a new term for me.
If I understand well, installing a ticket on 3DS seems equivalent to install the licence on the 3DS. Then the game became available in official e-shop even if we didn't buy it.
But what about the old way we installed CIA (ie : DL or create with PC, then install with a CIA installer) ? Does it have something to do with ticket too ?

Please, can someone give me information about what ticket is and what are the differences between installing a CIA with a cia installer, installing a ticket, and installing a game with with an app that downloads from Nintendo's CDN

• There are people that only bother to install .tik (tickets) files to their console. Those files are basically "purchase tickets" tied to your console that tell the eShop which games do you own.
• Tickets are NOT tied to the NNID however, only to the console.
• Once you installed a .tik file for a specific game, you can visit the eShop, go to the game page and it will be displayed as purchased, so you can download the game from there.

This method MIGHT be risky as we do not know for sure if Nintendo collects ID information other than the IP address. So if they actually do and decide to do something about it at some point, there will be bans.

• When downloading from the console, those tools do not send any information (Nintendo gets only the IP, which is necessary in any client-server communication). Same thing when downloading from the PC. So it is kinda safe to use.

Hi everyone! I previously used RxTools CFW with am EmuNAND on my SD Card. I have just about finished installing ARM9LoaderHax, and did this with a different SD card so that my original EmuNAND would stay intact. This entire process never involved me logging in with my Nintendo ID, knowing the whole complications that get involved if you do. The only time I had used my Nintendo ID was with the RxTools EmuNAND. Would I be able to create a backup of the EmuNAND from my old SD card and install it to SysNAND, using the Luma3DS CFW as a loader instead? Or would that result in a brick?

But I still have some queries.
Before I do anything stupid, I think it is best to ask in this forum.

These are some of my question.
1. Can I just login with my NNID now?
2. Am I still able to do transaction from eshop?
3. Can I still play from my original cartridges?
4. If I change the region later, what is the answer for question #1, #2 and #3?
5. With the current condition (before changing the region), I read in FAQs that I am able to play online eventhough I haven't tried it. How about after changing region, can I still play online?
6. If something bad happen, how can I go back to OFW v9.2?


I will follow the additional step from Plailect's Tutorial regarding the region changing.

I have just finished installing CFW via Cubic Ninja for the entry gate.
After going through the tutorial, I am aware that I can press some combinations of buttons to enter some "hidden" menu on 3DS. I can do it when the 3DS is turned off.
Yes it is not that obvious but kids can accidentally push those buttons.
I hope this gives you the gist.

al9h is pretty damn bulletproof. Might be tedious for you to set up and configure, but once it's done, you can grab a sysNAND image that you can restore in any extreme (even if your daughter somehow got into homebrew and bricked the unit).

Furthermore, an al9h/luma3ds combo is even more preferable. You can install whatever you want to the sysNAND (CIAs, etc), and it'll autoboot. No special cases or bugs you have to use when you turn the system on to make everything work.

Okay, so I decided that I wanted to try to modify a game (In this case, Kirby Triple Deluxe), but when it comes to decrypting the rom, I either don't get any files with RomFS in the name, bin or xorpad (using the 3DS), or the RomFS.bin is corrupt (using the tools on PC). Is there a solution to this or another way to modify the game files at all?

Thank you very much, but this does not seem to cover anything below 9.0 if I am not mistaken? First it explains how to get down to 9.2 and then it goes from there. I do not want to change the firmware on the 3ds, I need to leave it at 4.5 and make no change to the sysnand. Is there a part for that?

You SHOULD upgrade to 9.2 as there's no real advantage of staying in 4.5. Also install a9lh when you're on 9.2 . it's way better than emunand. https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/9.2.0-Update

Unfortunately no. Plailect's guide is kept updated frequently, as such, only the latest stuff is kept with it. There is really no advantage to staying on 4.5 as barely any CFW supports it, and those that do are already outdated and don't have any support on the CFW side of things, and those will eventually be broken with an update by Nintendo.

If you must stay on 4.5 then you'll have to dig up those outdated guides, which most probably won't work well, and I won't help you with those, sorry.

It's not my 3ds and the owner wants it to stay on 4.5 as he thinks it makes it "rare".
He would lend it to my little sister so she could play with it while she has to stay at the hospital, but only on the condition that noone updates it, not even to 9.2, otherwise we would have to buy it.
Maybe I'll just buy a used 2ds for my sister if I can find a cheap one. The guy is super weird :/

rare??? Anyone can downgrade their 3dses to 4.5 if anyone wants (that nobody wants because it's pure garbage, outdated and non compatible with newer and better cfw solutions). He's probability just an uniformed and blind gateway user.
But yeah buy a 2ds they're excellent. I got one used in a nice condition for 15€

Load up EmuNAND9, if you setup your 3DS as instructed by Plailect's A9LH guide, then holding Y at boot time will open it.

Now, press the Select button to safely unmount your SD card. Insert the SD Card with your rxTools EmuNAND. Press B to go back to the menu. Go to EmuNAND Manager Options -> Backup EmuNAND to file. Let it backup the EmuNAND. Once done Poweroff the console. Remove the SD card you just inserted and put in the other one. Now, again if you setup your 3DS as instructed, then hold Start at boot time to open Hourglass9. Press select to unmount the SD Card, and re-insert the SD Card with your emuNAND (which should also now have an emunand backup.bin on it) - Press B. Go to SysNAND Backup/Restore Options -> SysNAND Restore and use the EmuNAND.bin backup you have on the SD Card. Once done
Poweroff your system, and on your computer transfer the Nintendo 3DS folder from the EmuNAND SD Card to the other SD Card.

You'll probably need to change up the procedure if you want to keep the EmuNAND SD Card as your main. If that's the case, you'll have to backup it's contents to your PC, and also do an EmuNAND9 "Format SD (no EmuNAND)" at the end, and copy the relevant files onto it once done.
