So I'm going to go A9LH at some point so I was backing everything up.

  • emuNAND backup :yay3ds:
  • sysNAND backup :yay3ds:
  • Full SD Card Image backup :yay3ds:
  • Uploaded to online storage :yay3ds:
Now I'm cautious with stuff like this - I have older dumps too which I consider "fresh" as they were formatted then dumped (so I have like 3-4 backups of everything).

I wanted to ensure my sysNAND dumps were correct so I dumped, then dumped a 2nd time - the MD5 doesn't match though! I'm using the same 2DS, the same SD card, and the same rev of Decrypt9 (Decrypt9WIP-20160505-163551) from the github.

Is this normal?? I think I might make a new separated Gateway dump just to be 5x safe lol. I trust Gateway dumps.

Any thoughts?

Did you reboot the console or do anything else between dumps? If so, that would explain it. You need to take one dump, then immediately take another, and then compare the md5sums.

I didn't do any MD5 checking on mine, I just ensured the file sizes were correct on the guide page when comparing and no powering off and on. Use the Select button to dismount the SD each time when back and forth to the PC.

i guess that 'splains it - i did reboot then dump again. i wasn't aware this would affect the outcome.

still taking a gateway dump to be 250% backed up :)

Tbh, I'd swerve any GW dumps. On my previous GW setup for going with A9lh, I formatted the SD card including GW emunand and started fresh with EMUnand tool.

In case of a brick, I can hardmod if necessary and I'd like as many options of backups as possible. I know GW dumps are good to flash for hard mods. I assume all other dumps are just as good.

It's only going to take another 15 minutes or so for this extra precaution. When I follow Plialect's guide for OTP, I will follow it step by step, so no Gateway there.
