I will double check tonight when she comes over. Is the a9lh process difficult?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Or just get R4i card like and leave the firmware intact.
The firmware stays intact w/ A9LH
It just basically turns your system into a flashcart that can run itself (3ds gamz)

that is true . . . but to the previous point have you tried to turn on your console w/out the sd card?
We all backed up our otp.bin so we all have nothing to worry about. I'd take the disadvantage of having to have an ad card in the system to having to wait a long time for your system to start up. :D

What don't you like about a9lh. By any chance did you fail the installation process?

I think he was not really trying to bash A9LH there, he was only telling @Ricken that installing A9LH alters the NAND/firmware.

i dont dislike a9lh what i dislike is noobish poeple who want to feel _____ . . . . so they install so called "greatest" cfw (some noobs dont even know that a9lh itself is not a cfw) and push it on others at every opportunity (including when it makes no sense). they go as far as to say things like rxtools causes bricks in order to get people with minor problems . . . inconveniences to spend all afternoon praying that they do not screw up when installing a9lh that they now believe they need . . . . (we do not warn newbs about gateway bricks because we hate gateway (or its outdated) . . . we do it because its true) the problem in general is that no one can be realistic about the value of a9lh (boot speed is the only real advantage of a9lh) without first taking part in a debate on the topic because of . . . well . . . what @Kyojin said
The thing is, people that followed Plailect's guide without getting the essence of it (especially those who never ran a CFW before that) often mix up A9LH and Luma3DS (some do not even realize that Luma3DS is just an option among a few others). Sad, but true.
this leads to many people who should not attempt this to do so . . . and yes that type of people exist see my sig for details

Great! Now I understand what you're saying. A while ago I thought people wouldn't be stupid enough to suggest that rxtools can brick as it doesn't touch the nand but I was just on another thread saying that rxtools bricked someone else's 3ds. I only recommend a9lh because I used to use rxtools and it was, well... Unrefined. I didn't like the boot speed or the stuff it displayed as it was booting. I personally think that a9lh was worth it for me, but only because I knew what I was doing and I simply wanted a more refined start up (more because my dumb ass brother updated sysnand and I wanted a noob proof setup)

I'll start saying it's not necessary but preferred if you have some hours of free time and want the pros that come with it.
