Here's a list of ways Nintendo could possibly patch MCIT:
  • Make the games' identification reliant on fields other than the Unique ID, like the serial number (CTR-AXCE). This would require a full system update, since everything else on the 3DS relies on Unique IDs. This could also be easily bypassed by adding extra fields to the RSF file, so it wouldn't do much.
  • Check the MD5 or other hash of the app's files. Again, this would require a full system update, and would probably increase the time taken to boot all applications, just for the 0.0000001% of Nintendo's consumers who use this homebrew.
  • Disable screenshots in certain communities. Again, 0.0000001% of Nintendo's consumers have used this app, and changing something that major just for that small percentage isn't worth the inconvenience brought to the other 99.9999999% of their userbase.
And while I'm at it, here's some ways they could patch the unbanning method:
  • Checking the serial numbers for illegitimacies. This would make things HARDER, but not impossible, as we've already cracked some of the methods as to how legit ones are formed. (For instance, a good percentage of systems' SNs are divisible by 7)
  • Enforcing the SecureInfo_A signature, to the point where CFWs will have to rewrite their unsigned SecureInfo_A code to accommodate it. Not only will this require a system update we can easily ignore, Nintendo won't do this (and other reasons shown here) for reasons listed below.
  • Implementing IP/MAC bans. This is the only possible threat to us, and it's too late in the eighth generation to add such a major feature when the NX is what they'd rather focus on improving.
As you can see, almost everything Nintendo could do is easily dodgeable by us. The MCIT userbase is so small that Nintendo won't do anything about it unless it either gets bigger or an incredibly-easy-to-do and effective method comes along for them to put in place. And anything requiring a full system update isn't something they'd do, as they're more focused on eliminating homebrew entrypoints in general, something used 10,000x as much as Miiverse Custom Image Tool.

So no, Nintendo will most likely NOT be patching MCIT anytime soon.

On an unrelated note: while looking for Miiverse communities with in-game posts, I stumbled upon the Musicverse: Electric Keyboard community.

Not only does it have in-game posts, but they all contain images with a resolution of 640x480. This means that if we can gain control over this game, we can have higher quality images and in-game posts made to whatever 3DS community we want, even communities like YouTube's that have restrictions over it.

It shouldn't be too hard to get started, as the game stores the background to this image in a JPG file. A freaking JPG file!

(though we still need to figure out how to get rid of the QR code)

Also, would anyone be up for a seperate thread for posts made with MCIT? I'd like to see people making use of it again, and I feel that a new thread could help that happen.

Edit: I can't seem to be able to edit the QR code out easily, because it requires some very precise editing in the code.bin file. If anyone knows anything about that and would like to help, please PM me. Thanks :)

Disney Art Academy is out in the US, and drawings posted from it are made to the in-game posts section, which are, once again, 640x480. I'm sorry if this sounds redundant, as this is the third time I've said "in-game post tool coming soon omg", but I legitimately feel like I'll have something good for you all by the end of the week. Just wait for it, it'll be out soon. :)

Also, I'm probably going to get going on that MCIT image thread soon.

Miiverse Custom Image Tool (MCIT)
Making it easy to post custom images to Miiverse!

I was looking for a way to post any image I wanted on Miiverse.
However, I couldn't find an easy way to do this.
So I decided to make my own!

This is a custom CIA that spoofs the TitleID of the game and shows an image from the SD card. The amount of CIAs is limited since you need to rebuild it on a per-ID basis, but I tried to make it as easy-to-understand as possible!

Current version: v1.3
v1.3 has been released, making the process of posting many images a snap!

Here's the basics on how to use this:

  1. Download the CIA of the game you'd like to spoof. (Use the included build kit to make one, if you don't have one already.)
  2. Create a folder named 'images' on your SD card. Put all your PNG images in there, and number them in the order you'd like to show them. (1.png, 2.png, 3.png, etc.) Make sure they're resized to 400x240, or 320x240 for the bottom screen. (If you're using v1.1, use image.png for the image you'd like to show.)
  3. Install the modified CIA.
  4. Run the application.
  5. You should be automatically thrown into the Home Menu. Open Miiverse.
  6. Post your custom image, or add it to your screenshot album.
  7. If you have any more images to post, reopen the application, and it will do the same with 2.png, 3.png, and etc. until it runs out of images.
  8. When all images are cycled through, the app will automatically close.
For more information, see the README below.

And here's a little proof of concept if you don't believe me:

Download the CIA files for this application here. For more CIAs, go back a folder. Note that the /miicustom/ CIAs are made for v1.1, and require an index.lua file.
If you're upgrading from v1.1, use this index.lua file to update without installing new CIAs.

Do NOT use this thread to host 18+ raids, or to show off 18+ content. The GBATemp moderators will take action if this is the case.
(Nobody will stop you from using this tool to make those kinds of posts, however.)

If you get banned, follow this guide! Using it, you can make infinite Miiverse accounts with ease.

Here's a kit that you can use to build your own CIA for this. Edit the UniqueId in the RSF file to change the app's ID. Here's a quick tutorial on how to do that:

Run build.bat when you've changed the UniqueID to the one you want.

Here's the Le Miiverse Resource Wiki page for this tool. Note that I didn't write this.

Credit goes to:
-Rinnegatamante - developing LuaPlayerPlus
-Arian Kordi - teaching me how Miiverse hacking worked
-I pwned U! - posting the NNID unbanning method

That's all I have to say about this program. I hope you find it to be useful!

By the way, if you came here from Reddit, /u/PokemonFan2000M created this.

This is pretty cool, though I really don't want to get banned by using it. Also even if I can make multiple accounts, I really don't wanna break rules :P

But still...............SUPER MAYRO KRATT IST DA BEST GAM!

Sorry for being a dick, but you don't have to post about this. If you have a question, WHAT IS IT?!

Confirmed: Disney Art Academy drawings redirect to the In-Game post section of the communities, no matter which. Expect a release of this and something else involvng in-game posts on that one ISO site on Sunday morning. If I can find any way to bring full images to the in-game post section, it'll happen... until then, this should help a bit.

It is a compliment on this guy doing a good job, is a compliment not allowed?

Also its fine if your being blunt, I like when people are blunt.

I'm friends with this guy, and trust me. He's blunt ALL THE TIME.
To the point of getting banned from certain websites, even.
Well I guess being blunt does have its downside, but I don't mind ^^
