thats a good joke.
For most a9lh is not easy,,,

Also nothing beats just putting .3ds files on you gateway and start playing.

Plailect wrote his guide for nothing.

I dunno, downloading and installing games directly from Nintendo's servers (which takes less time because you download and install it at the same time and don't have to worry about copying anything over) seems to beat that.

I don't know about taking less time, but it's certainly very neat.
The 3DS wireless card seems to cap out at about 1.3-ish MB/s for me :(
I can download a .cia from cdn-fx @ 7 MB/s and then install it in like, half the time for a big game (Bravely Default, Pokemons, etc)

IMA JUST GONNA COPY PASTE MY YESTERDAY POST
Fun fact: without private headers, you can get banned online!
And talking about that, it's a surprise you have to be on 9.2 which is the version you can get free and more reliable CFW's
Also, how do you feel how hard it is to get a .3ds compared to a .cia(you can pull them using ciaangel/funkeycia(nintendo servers themselves)
Also, how do you feel that you were an idiot and paid for piracy when you could get it for FREE/0 $ ?
Good? You shoudn't because a normal person would call it a mistake.
Also, comparing the hassle to get a gateway card to boot into an emunand(nowadays updated sysnand+a9lh is waaaay faster and more reliable as well as anti brick is awesome) compared to newer alternatives, there's really really NO EXCUSE for a gateway card to exist. I'd like to say to Gateway/Sky3ds fanboys to stop defending their purchase.

using a cfw is free it has brick protection, it is faster, more convenient and user friendly, besides having a huge community and the devs actually caring.
There's no advantage of using a flashcard only disavantages

3
wow, so you just admit that they stole the free *hax entrypoint to use on their commercial and paid product, and later they're gonna again steal a free and public software called a9lh and promote it as revolutionary and unique. Their entrypoint is just free software, meaning that in the same way you use a gateway, you're using a CFW, the difference is you're paying for a shitty support team, which doesn't care about you or none of their customers? Have you wondered why SOON became a meme? That's why. They just don't care. In the end they're just thieves that are getting their money from lazy users or uninformed users
4
yes. you bought it. There's nothing to do now ;)
Let's just see if they will EVER release it. They're just on their end of life you know. They just say a9lh support and such to keep customers ... My bet is that they're not doing shit and will never do, they're just trying to hold on a bit more. Nowadays it's nothing revolutionary ya know. I know the thing about convenience, I think you're forgetting having a 3ds/ds flashcard inside your system drains your battery. But it's your opinion

And having a good team is basically bricking gateway clones isn't it? Bricking people that they're not their customers... And making us pay for free software. I guess that if I do a luma3ds clone and shove it in a flashcard and mention Aurora it's excusable isn't it? No it isn't. And it's pretty much the same, with just a few UI tweaks

you asume everyone is as informed as we are most people dont even get how to install cias or where to put the files.

Plailect can write as many guides as he wants as long as there isnt an true one click solution it wont be easy for the mayority of potential users.

The Internet exists for a reason, you can find answers to almost all questions you could come up with...

In my opinion if you can't put in enough effort to read a (very explicit) guide, you clearly don't want it bad enough to deserve it.
I realize it sounds elitist, but if you're so lazy to the point you need a one-click solution, just buy a sky3ds+. Every time anyone asks a question about setup, someone links the plailect guide, and at this point it's even breached into some people's signatures.

Virtually all brick risk has been eliminated, especially since the discovery about the battery pull for wifi on 2.1 for N3DS, at this point, if you don't want to follow the guide, then just don't bother asking.

I've done 5 3DS' now, 4 O3DS and 1 N3DS and all 4 o3ds went without any hitch, all the downgrades went smoothly, the 2.1 downgrade worked fine and I got it working in <2 hours. My New 3DS crashed on the 9.2 downgrade and it still didn't brick, it was a (very easily fixable) frankenfirmware.

and if you're really commited in non customization, having to break your finger from scrolling the roms in those damn buttons and not installing cias/homebrew then yeah just buy (89$ iirc vs 0$ cfw+a9lh) it

1. Fun fact: without private headers, you can get banned online!
2. And talking about that, it's a surprise you have to be on 9.2 which is the version you can get free and more reliable CFW's
4.
Also, how do you feel how hard it is to get a .3ds compared to a .cia(you can pull them using ciaangel/funkeycia(nintendo servers themselves)
5. Also, how do you feel that you were an idiot and paid for piracy when you could get it for FREE/0 $ ?
6. using a cfw is free it has brick protection, it is faster, more convenient and user friendly, besides having a huge community and the devs actually caring.
1. You can always get banned even with cfw if you screw up
2. Free besides an entry point like Zelda or Cubic Ninja you may need you mean?
3. Since guys like you always do the math on how much time you can save by a9lh boot time then please think about this:

CIA
1. Moving cia to 3ds sd card (~5 Minutes)
2. Waiting for to install (10-30 Minute)
3. Play

3ds
1. Moving ,3ds to GW sd.card (~5 minutes)
2. Play

so you lose 10- 30 minutes per game you want to play (first time)

4. of course this has no potential to get you banned, its not like Nintendo can see if you actually own the stuff your 3ds downloads. Really its an wonder they didnt ban yet,
5. look at 2.
6. Brick protection is nice an all, but does it protect you from the possibility of an brick while you want to archive this protection. Sure Plailects guide is noob proof but there is always the chance that something goes wrong.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
