Hey guys, found a DLC .cia for a game I have. installed with FBI. i entered game, it shows all the new stuff unlocked from DLC. today i boot up my 3ds and game, and dlc is gone. How should i stop dlc from getting deleted? maybe it was because i launched eSHOP? was downloading a free game they offered, unrelated to the one that i installed DLC for

False i installed multiple smash dlcs and super mario bros 2 dlc and I acess the shop A LOT and none of them EVER disappeared
It's not false. It's a known issue for a long time. Research before speaking. It's related to wether or not you linked your NNID to the Eshop and if you're using Sysnand or Emunand.

Nah actually that's half-true, DLCs get deleted when entering to the eShop in a random fashion, half of my pirated DLC get deleted while others are kept (And no, I haven't purchased DLCs before pirating them, for both the ones that are deleted and those that aren't). I created a topic not to long ago in hopes somebody would research this but it went mostly ignored.

My research is my personal experience with 2 3ds systems as everything on there is completely and totally pirated and its linked solely 1 nnid to the sysnand(10.7 a9lh luma3ds) no emunand. So, I install dlcs and acess the eshop and they NEVER disappeared. :O aint that weird (really telling that it should be ME who's should be doing the research[emoji14])

For me all I have to do is update a game and I lose the streetpass games I didn't pay for. It's not random, it's guaranteed, and I don't even need to access the eShop. Just updating a game that has an update will do it. And I'm on updated SysNAND A9LH.

On the other hand the saved progress is preserved, so I just leave the cia on the SD and reinstall it, and I'm back in business. It's a hassle, but oh well.

I always loose the streetpass DLC, however I don't loose DLC for other games like SSB4.

Your personal experience is anecdotal evidence, and is far from covering all variables. It is a known issue, if it doesn't affect you that's good for you, that doesn't mean at any point that my information was invalid.

I could go on forever but I think you got the point.

This happens if you visit the in-game DLC shops, because it will give your NNID/console a ticket which will be checked later when you connect to the eShop and remove any pirated DLC.
If you never access the in-game DLC shops or never legitimately purchase DLC for that game, then your console/NNID doesn't have a ticket associated to DLC for that game, so pirated DLC won't be deleted.

The same happens with themes. If you have legally-purchased themes, accessing the eShop will remove any cia themes. Never bought any, cia themes won't get deleted. Not entirely sure if the "accessing the theme shop" thing applies here too, someone would have to check that.

its not someone doing something wrong. it seems to be random as it happens to some but not all or some lose some of their dlc but not others.

If you have ever visited the DLC shop at least once before you installed the DLC CIA, then it vanishes on visiting e-shop.

If you have never visited the DLC shop before you installed the DLC CIA, then it never disappears.

That's because:

Visiting DLC shop installs a valid ticket to your ticket.db.
Installing CIA installs an invalid ticket to your ticket.db.
But tickets CAN'T be overwritten.
So
- Install Valid ticket before Invalid --- Always Valid
- Install Invalid ticket before Valid --- Always Invalid

When e-shop detects Valid ticket --- Delete everything unmatches to the Valid --- That's why your pirate items get deleted
When e-shop detects Invalid ticket --- Do nothing --- That's why someone's pirate items have not been deleted

Well you can't just go to my 3ds and remove the dlc yourself because they aren't going nowhere with either the eshop or the dlc shop. Something must be wrong with me (I must have an unique and rare system or everyone else is just unlucky. I got my spotpass off btw

Or you could try reading the thread and looking at which conditions make the DLC get deleted and which don't, admiting you were wrong from the very beginning.
