I have't read through all the documentaiton yet,as its a lot to take in, but my first prod would obviously be a tiny intro. Do the 3ds (know there are difference for top and bottom), but modes like direct memory access, like a framebuffer? also, anyone coded some system for the music system on the machine, could easily make a mod player if we have full access.

Hello, the coolest guys, in the coolest thread at gbatemp :)

Modo 2011 could perhaps be ported from the psp?

http://forums.qj.net/psp-news-annou...do-2011-ultra-simple-mod-player-released.html

Modo 2011 Plays:
* Trackers: 669, IT, MED (only MMD1), MOD, MTM, S3M, STM and XM module format.
* C64: SID and MUS (HVSC song length database support)
* Atari ST: YM, SNDH and SC68
* SPC (Snes)
* GYM & VGMz (Sega Master System / Sega Genesis aka Mega Drive / some derivats)
* GBS (Gameboy)
* NSF & NSFe (Nes)
* AY (Spectrum / Amstrad CPC)
* SAP (Atari XL)
* Modern: Vorbis/Ogg and MP3

I have asked for a tracker port as well. These are my concept art.

Klystracker 3DS, SID emulation tracker:

Famitracker NES 2A03 Tracker:

Nice to see interest in this cool stuff! :)

I'm familiar with FamiTracker, but that's only for .nsf stuff.
It would be more convenient (but still difficult) to make a port of OpenMPT

Yes, just use gfxGetFramebuffer.

Oh well, what you want has nothing to do with .xm files :P When I'mo done with another project of mine I'll give a look at FamiTracker's source code

Cool! Klystrack has a cooler sound then Famitracker, though both are cool! The author of Klystracker would love to see a port to the 3DS :)

Take in mind that 3DS screens are vertical screens (it means if you want to do direct software rendering writing on framebuffers, you must calculate a 90 degrees rotation since screens are 240x400 and 240x320, you can take a look to the CPU rendering code of lpp-3ds: https://github.com/Rinnegatamante/lpp-3ds/blob/master/source/include/graphics/Graphics.cpp).

I would love to see demos on the 3DS, especially in 3D. Last time I got excited about them was when a guy named Xylitol pushed 32bit demos to the GBA and GBC.

Nice! I haven't heard about him. Will check him out!

Also, the closest thing we got in the 3ds scene to stuff like these are a snes music player (Blargspc) done by @DiscostewSM
Blargspc has great audio, but it is very limited, as it only plays spc files.

If there will be time for some demos. I can help with some music (even though I'm done with music. This is something I could do, just for fun!)..
