No you can't use

No you can't since the firmware.bin from aureinand is decrypted. (Open it in hexeditor and you can read 'firm') the file from cakes fw is the same which provides the Nintendo update server and it is encrypted. I read nowhere how and if you could reencrypt it. Only chance to get it is if someone dumped it while it was available. But the only 9.2fw I found is for O3DS. Guess I'm out of luck. The firmware90.bin aureinand provides is the same I dumped from Sysnand but the boot success rate is nearly 0 when using it as firmware.bin. :(

Cant you dl it from that iso site? From one of the full cia packs?

Have you succeded on getting the firmware.bin + cetk for 9.2 or 9.0?

I tried using the firmware90.bin from aureinand but it doesn't work, then I tried downloading the firmware from Nintendo servers without success (even with the 3DNUS. It seems impossible to get those files. We need someone who has them backuped somewhere...

What I would like to do is load emunand with CakesFW with 9.0 or 9.2 native firm to launch Gateway and some other apps that need those firmwares from my 10.6 emunand. Is that possible?

Like I said. They only provide the firmware.bin for O3DS. For N3DS there is only one from 9.6 fw. I extracted the firmware.bin from a 9.2 downgrade pack but it's the same unencrypted firmware.bin like in aureinand.

@Surfi :that's my goal too. I still didn't succeed :( Nobody is providing the files. Atm I'm using Aureinand without updatedsysnand switch and booting the 3ds with 'L' to get firmlaunch 9.0 working.

Why is cakes fw using encrypted fw.bin? I don't see any benefits. When running cakes it is decrypting it anyway. Somebody could just skip the decrypting part in source code and recompile it :/ I would make it myself but I'm too lazy to install the required environment for compiling.

AFIAK, Rei uses CakesFW to decrypt his firmware. He use to provide a link in his dropbox, but now he re-encrypts it with his own key to legally add it to his github repo.

This ain't region-free yet? So I can't launch JP roms on my US N3DS?

We are not stopping you if you want to add support to region-free. If you want region-free but don't want to touch any coding, too bad, you'll have to wait until it becomes a priority.

Mmm, understood, although that's kind of a roundabout way of saying "No, it's not region-free yet".
Are there any homebrews I can use to make JP titles work on it, or would I have to go to another CFW? 'Coz it's kind of the entire point of turning my N3DS from legit to CFW - I really wanted to play Labyrinth no Kanata.

It's not a roundabout. It's a straight answer.
And yes, you can do things about that, but you might want to search it. (hint: hans)

Hmm. I have HANS on HBL, will that be able to see a CIA-installed JP game? Coz that's what I got - so I can play its fan-translation.
Anyways, thanks for the prompt answer.

As long as it appears on the home menu, it should appear on the hans title list. Change whatever you need in there.

If anyone would like the 10.4 firm files with the firm key for use with a9l(so you don't need to boot to a 9.2 sysnand) let me know
That would be awesome if you could provide one (Since it's illegal to share that file, I assume it would be via PM). Wanted to try out Cakes for A9LH.
