I've been having a hard time navigating the scene since I lost my O3DS. I want to buy a N3DS -- it's actually cheaper -- but I'm not sure how reliable it is. Maybe I should just get another new O3DS, which I know I can hack.

Which do you think is better? Do you think we're at the point where we can reliably downgrade the N3DS with sysupdater, or is the risk of softbricking and getting stuck on 10.6 too great?

Depends in what you want to find, the N3DS is better hardware wise as well (3D Wise) the only minus i can see is that the Audio Chip for that console is practically the same (or related) to the O3DS XL one (For information, the original 3DS audio chip is considered the best out of all them, since it has the Surround Stereo as well better capabilities with the Headphones, it was only that during the development of the 3DS XL, that they nerfed it, and so, it doesn't sound as good, you can only hear the differences if you really care about music though).

To maintain, depends, and button wise, the N3DS and the 3DSXL are tied in the quality of this one, the quality on the original is a bit better, but they are smaller, so people with big hands may experience some difficult with the buttons of this console.

And for hacking, well, naturally, most N3DS are in firmwares that can allow you to do that, but downgrading may be dangerous if you try to do something that you should not, while the O3DS get the better and (safer) taste of the hacking part.

In all honesty, I suggest you to wait until a safer method of hacking the N3DS comes out, and pick the O3DS if you only care about hacking it safe, which was my choice and i don't regret it.

Seems like there's no clear consensus at this point. I guess I could just buy a N3DS to have one on 10.3 and then just sit on it for awhile? Seems like a lot of people end up on frankenfirmware or with a softbrick even if they follow the instructions to the T.

Terrible timing to lose my O3DS.
