build from source and use build/main.bin, or strip out the first part of cakes.dat. cant remember how much of it. think its 1200 bytes. or is that hex? idk
Either build it yourself and use main.bin under the build directory, or open Cakes.dat in a hex editor and copy 0x12000 onwards into a new file and save as arm9loaderhax.bin.
There's a CtrBoot build for a9lh (I let you search it), with that you can boot Cakes.
Thanks for the help! I forgot I could make my own payloads. One question though: Does Cake's Sysnand keep a9lh installed if updating sysnand through it? I don't think I will update sysnand even if it is safe to, but I'd just like to know.

Really ? I heard few posts ago that there were no FIRM-writes protection on Cakes... Do you have a source/commit for that ?

EDIT : Installed it (build 136), now I'm waiting for someone crazy enough to test it x)
We could test using using SysUpdater and 10.3 files, but I don't want to have to downgrade again, since I already soft-bricked a N3DS once...

emuNAND yes, sysNAND no.
It's got 136 in the filename.
The reason it only supports o3DS 9.0, is because that's the only firmware that's had the offset for the patch added so far.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.+1 -

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.+1
