I hate myself. I updated my sysNand by mistake since I didn't know this and now I have to do hardmod.

Yes, but do NOT return to the main menu once you have opened the system settings as it will return you to sysnand.

I just got a recent build of rxTools 3.0 beta on a New 3DS. Should I update emuNAND using System Settings, or with sysUpdater? If that's the case, can I update to 10.6 or should I update to 10.5?

You should be able to to update fine via system settings. It never hurts to make an emuNAND backup before updating though.

Well I got over 20 GB of games so that's not gonna happen, wish me luck lol
Games aren't stored in the emuNAND partition itself. You can do so via EmuNAND Tool, which doesn't take up any additional space on the SD card. It backs up directly to your PC, but I don't believe it supports EmuNAND9's emuNAND.

Yeah but that would take a lot of time either way, wouldn't it...

I think Decrypt9 and the Homebrew Launcher both require an internet connection to initialize. You might be able to use FBI injection through rxTools though, which would achieve the same result as the BigBlueMenu injection.

Hold L while boot rxTools to open the rxTools menu. From there, go to advanced options. You should see an option for installing FBI. Select it. Choose sysNAND, then select check TMD only. It should tell you which TMD version you need. In the rxTools folder you downloaded, go to the Tools folder, then the fbi_injection folder. Inside there, navigate to your 3DS's region and TMD version. Take the two files inside that folder and place them on the root of your 3DS's SD card. After that, put your SD card back into your 3DS and boot rxTools again while holding L to bring up the menu again. Go back the install FBI option, choose sysNAND again, but this time choose to inject FBI. After that, you should have FBI injected over the health and safety app and should be ok to continue with the tutorial!

Jesus man, I've been fiddling with my wifi for like an hour trying to get it stable enough to be able to get a CIA installer, your way took about 2 seconds and was loads easier. Thank you so much man that pretty much solved all my issues. <3

Okay, Question, but I want to make this COMPLETELY CLEAR before I go ahead and do it...

I have an o3ds with a 9.2 sysNAND and 10.5 emuNAND (rxTools), and want to make a system transfer to another o3ds that also has a 9.2 sysNAND and 10.6 emuNAND (I can update the first 3ds emuNAND to 10.6 and probably will). Since 10.6 is the latest version, how can I system transfer everything from the first o3ds to the second one, keeping all the NAND stuff intact so I can continue to have cfw and whatnot?

I don't know if this has been answered before, but would it be possible to do a system transfer from a 10.3 new 3ds to a different new 3ds on firmware 10.6? I am going to get another ds and want to transfer my games and saves to it but I want to keep it on the 10.3 firmware so I can downgrade it later.

To do a system transfer, both the systems must be on the latest FW. That being said, you can do a system transfer from emuNAND to sysNAND, so if you downgrade your FW 10.3 3DS and install CFW and update its emuNAND you can do a system transfer :)

Aaaand update is done and I just realized I will be needing wifi anyways to reinstall emunand+menuhax... Welp, I'll figure this out tomorrow I guess.

O3DSXL on 10.2.0.28-U. Got latest starter kit. Have Cubic Ninja and MenuHax installed. I can successfully get to HBL using either. I can run things like Doom, or mGBA. I have attempted to run safesysupdater about 20 times now. About 4 times I got hax successful, and then stuck. All of the other times just shows the red dots on the left side and then hangs.

I can use the verify function of safesysupdater, and it did verify that my cia files are all there. Any thoughts? Do you think it could be my SD card? Something I am doing wrong?

Edit: Nevermind. Using sysupdater found here (https://gbatemp.net/threads/simple-guide-to-downgrading-your-3ds.407888/) worked for me.

hello friends Gbatemp , was wondering if anyone forum , knows some method to downgrade a 3DS XL American that is at version 10.5 to 9.2 without having to open the console and use the hardmod ?

Not possible right now (hardmod is required). Hopefully in the future it'll change.

Well i want to hardmod , but what exactly can i do with it , and is it possible on 10.6?

It's used mostly for making backups and restorations of your sysNAND. But at this moment in time, it can also be used to downgrade a part of firmwares 10.4 through 10.6 down to 10.3, where you can then downgrade again to 9.2 (a multi-step downgrade basically. The 10.4-10.6 to 10.3 downgrade enables an exploit that was previously blocked in 10.4 and onward to run again).
