I recently purchased a Wii U, which is likely on 5.3.2. It's not the end of the world to me if it isn't on 5.3.2, as piracy isn't a huge draw. (However, I'd like to stay on 5.3.2 because region free and VC injecting). From reading, I found that I can access the eShop on 5.3.2 and install game updates (and possibly go online with games?) using WUP Installer. I'm not 100% sure about Netflix though. Will I be able to download and use Netflix on 5.3.2 without having to update my system? I used my Wii as my method of watching netflix on the TV, but I'll be moving the Wii to another room soon.

Netflix will bug you about an update, you can just say no and it will start. At least that's what it's doing on my 5.5.0 that wants 5.5.1
Just make sure you block updates with tubehax dns first

Yeah it works on my 5.3.2 console. Like DarkJediRey said, it bugs you to update but you can choose not to and continue on. It seems a bit more stable on my 5.5.1 console though. I get those error messages about "We are having trouble playing that title" quite a bit, but a quick restart if the app makes it work again.

I've had my Wii U for about a year, updated to 5.3.2 when it came out, played my retail copy of Smash for a while and never used it again for months, and today I decided to look into getting Loadiine running...

I just set up the Tubehax DNS and netflix won't start for me, it displays the "preparing update" nag, then after I cancel it tries to log in to Nintendo Network and then tells me "in order to use online services a system update is required".

Anyone has an idea of how to fix this?

Thanks!

I had the same issue with netflix. Delete netflix via the system settings and redownload it. To bypass the stuff that asks you for an update, use WUPinstaller to spoof to 5.5.1 and NNU Patcher to access the eshop.

That sounds doable, but first I gotta finish up on reading everything there is to know about the exploits so I can finally hack the Wii U... Thanks!
