Seriously, I doubt the 3DS could handle it. I play N64 games on my jailbroken iPhone 6 and it runs pretty well but sometimes it does lag a bit. So if it struggles to run on a phone then I can't imagine playing it on a 3DS.

If you want N64 emulation then use your phone if you have one. Jailbreak it, root it, do whatever but I promise using a phone for N64 emulation is a thousand times better than using the 3DS.

I mean, just look at the psp version and pc versions. still not running at perfect speeds.
The PSP version died a long time ago because the PSP died a long time ago. It's open source, so someone could still improve upon it, but nobody cares to since the system is pretty much irrelevant now. As far as desktop emulators go, they're pretty much able to emulate the system near perfectly. Video issues aside (which have are being squashed with the new release of GlideN64), I have yet to play a game that didn't run at 60 frames with minimal problems.

You have a point, but people can't do that on the bus for example. :D
Get a tablet. Mupen64plus AE is decent enough to be playable.

You're using the Iphone as an example, don't use that as an example. Use an android device because for emulators on there run a lot better compared to their IOS counterparts (mainly because Iphones have to be jailbroken emulators so devs don't spend too much time on IOS). I used an Asus Zenfone 2 and it ran everything I gave it flawlessly (no lag even with many objects to load at once).

You shouldn't be having a problem with that though, I can play Super Smash Bros. Brawl at 60fps with 6GB and a 3.20 GHz AMD processor.
You may want to scan your computer for viruses and check your Task Manager for anything taking up all your resources.
Me too! I tried a custom level of a Smash 4 port and it dropped big time though

I have to admit, the search function on GBAtemp does need an overhaul. Just as an example, I went and searched '3ds downgrade' and the results went here: http://gbatemp.net/posts/6042361/ and here: http://gbatemp.net/posts/6041528/ and here: http://gbatemp.net/posts/6041060/
For those who don't want to check, the first is a question about a soft-brick after an attempted downgrade. The second is another shitpost question thread about 'Going online on emuNAND 10.4'. The third is called 'n3ds hardmod Failes to detect'. The third's keyword is '3ds' in the middle of a sentence [original word was 'n3ds'] and it was the 5th listing. So cut people some slack about not using the search function. I encourage you all to try and use it, just to understand why GBAtemp is currently clogged with shitposting.

Why is it that people think malware is resource intensive? At one point, like in the 90s, it might have been, but now the idea is to be as stealthy as possible unless the malicious party is using a cryptolocker or a malvertising campaign like a fake AV. The only kind I can think of that would actually be resource intensive would be a malicious BTC miner, but those are specifically coded to learn idle times and run when the computer is least used. The bottleneck with emulators is the processor. Even if one has a fairly decent GPU/CPU combination, the CPU is always the cause of choke ups due to how emulation threading works. Laptop CPUs are especially notorious for being bad with emulators.

Daedalus on the PSP ran pretty good but not excellent or perfect CONSIDERING the hardware, so why not on a New 3DS.

All we need is a dedicated team.
And
OPTIMIZATION!!! Optimization is the true magic behind all emulators.

The psp, and n64 use MIPS processors, and 3Ds uses arm11/arm9.
Emulation is orders of magnitude faster if you don't have to translate/emulate code.

Tis a very wrong statement...
Having actual button input instead of stupid touchscreen will always be way better...

I know it's not about hardware. Hell, I have a gaming computer with 8GBs of RAM, and I can't even launch Wii games on it. GameCube games also lag if there's too much shit loaded at once.
Dude thats your CPU doing some tricky shit if I remember correctly. Dolphin likes intel cpus over anything else iirc.

True, but it can't be played on a 3DS and if you want a portable version then you have to use a phone.

That nowhere near constitutes a gaming computer by today's standards.

Or get an NVIDIA Shield or a Bluetooth capable controller.

These threads usually end up with someone asking "If the PSP can emulate N64, why can't the 3DS do it?"

I'll cover that topic before this thread gets to that: PSP and N64 use MIPS architecture for their CPU's and the 3DS uses ARM. completely different instruction sets.
That's been covered in this thread, but yes. I think people have this mentality since the PSP's clock speed could max out at 333 MHz, and they assume since the 3DS is newer, that it should have no issue achieving this.
