Hello everyone, I am pretty new with all the 3DS Stuff, hacks, homebrew etc...

My problem is : I would like to play Monster Hunter X on my European Nintendo New 3DS.
I read a lot of tutorials and news about it so I came up with 2 solutions :

I read about ninjhax2 which allows to play out-of-region games. But I need more information about it. Can I install ninjhax without the Cubic game ? I mean through browserhax. (then installing menuhax to access Homebrew Launcher easily) The two hack methods result in the same result : the Homebrew Launcher, but is only ninjhax2 allowing out-of-region games or it is with Homebrew Launcher ?
I have the cartridge of MHX will it work with the out-of-region launcher ?
Another problem is to play online.
If what I said before works and I can play MHX on my 3DS, will I be able to play online ? And also to update the game ? I think I need to access the JP eShop to update the game, that's why I'm not sure about it. And I think I need to have an updated game to play online so... I'm lost

The last solution would be to downgrade my N3DS to 9.2 and install a CFW which allows to install CIA (including the game and its updates) but even with that I don't know if I will be able to play online without getting banned.

I don't want to do the last solution because I don't really want to modify my N3DS that much and I don't know if I would be able to go back to an official firmware from a CFW.
I just want to play Monster Hunter X on my N3DS as if I was in japan (online), so a CFW is not really what I need. I don't want to customize my 3DS or install some homebrew.

Thanks for reply, I hope someone can help me.

On an EU system, your only option is downgrade if you want to play online. There's no other way to retrieve the game updates.

I see, so with Homebrew Launcher I can't update my japanese game ?

I need to downgrade and install a CFW that allows CIA ? (like PastaCFW ?)

The issue is that you can't get on another region's eShop, so you need to install the updates as CIA files. And yeah, though I would recommend a CFW that uses emuNAND (rxTools for O3DS or ReiNAND for N3DS) so you can still have your system updated and play newer games.

So I assume I need to have an updated game to play online if you say that (It would be simpler if I didn't have to update)

I should install ReiNAND on my N3DS then ? But will I lose all my data ? (savegames, themes, installed game) And will I be able to go back to an official firmware ?
You said that I can have my system updated and play newer games but if I have a CFW I can't update my system, I don't understand this part

You need the latest game update for online functionality, yeah.
emuNAND is an emulated system firmware that runs from the SD Card. Basically, you update emuNAND while keeping sysNAND (your actual system firmware) exploitable for the CFW.

I've only just realised I should've asked you something before all of this: are you on the latest system firmware? If you are, then you can't downgrade, and your hopes of Monster Hunter X online are pretty much dead.

Oh I see, emuNAND is a pretty good trick.

My firmware is the 10.3.0-28E so I assume it is good ?
But will I lose all my data if I downgrade and go to a CFW ?

Ah, 10.3 is good to downgrade yeah. You can keep all your stuff, check out the Tutorials section for better info on downgrading, and make sure you're well informed before attempting anything ^^

Okay thank you !
This tutorial will be entirely perfect for what I need so ? https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutoria...luding-emunand-coldboot-cia-installer.405589/

I have a last question : do I need to install the game with a CIA to play it on my N3DS with the CFW (and of course playing it online) or can I use my cartridge ?
I read about private headers of games, do I need to worry about it with CIA or cartridge ? (when playing online)

That guide looks good for after you've downgraded, but you'll need to find something for the downgrade process itself, since if that goes wrong, you can brick. If you have region patching, you can use your cart without the need for installing the game.

Okay I found a downgrade guide. I will do that thank you
I read with the sysUpdater you can't brick your 3DS, is it true ?

I don't have to bother about headers of game so :D

You'll still need the out-of-region eshop patches, luckily, these are available as cia files that can be found around the net, using your CFW and preferred injection method, you should be able to install these to your emunand's sd storage to play the game in newer versions

As all the guides for downgrading state: you will always face the risk of a brick and it's your own fault if it happens to you. Should you take yourself enough time and read everything carefully enough, i can assure you though, that the risk is somewhat minimal. I already downgraded two new3ds myself and never had any problem in the process of doing so. But please keep in mind: it's always your responsibility if something goes wrong ... do no blame anyone except for yourself should a brick happen to you ;)

So it is easier to use CIA ? I will not need out of region eshop then ?

Of course I will not blame anyone if it ever happens to me ^^.
I just read that you can't brick your 3DS with the new version of sysUpdater but I wasn't sure.

I guess what you have read is most likely this: https://gbatemp.net/threads/wip-safesysupdater.409392/

It's a modified version of sysupdater that adds some safety checks so that the risk of failing is minimized. I can recommend this thing to you, definitely :)

Okay guys ! I managed to downgrade and now I've installed Reinand, everything works fine ! :D
I am so happy ! I successfully installed MHX updates and it works (I didn't try online though)
Thank you !
