I know this question is probably a bit stupid.

I am looking to buy a N3DS to replace my O3DS XL

My question is, now that we have the keys, is EmuNAND unlocked for the foreseeable future?

Or will Nintendo break it again? With that said, should I stick with My O3DS?

Ok, so I wasn't going crazy, great. Even though the answers were cynical, I understand and appreciate the information:).

BTW, you plan on buying the new Digimon Cyber Sleuths? I am a big fan of Series 3 Digimon, so the Renamon caught my eye:)

Until nintendo make another 3ds like the NEW 3DS i think no! The reason why emunand was blocked on N3DS is because N3DS have different hardware architecture!

I imagine there was more to it than that? Not an expert in the cryptography used. Since they can write the keys, can't they just update the keys used?

If I'm right, they can't because we've got all the keys. They can just try to slow down the process with a new update.

I read somewhere on gbatemp that some developer/s of CFW(reiNAND,CakeFW,rxTools i dont remember) was able to downgrade n3ds to 2.0 firmware and get the keys so we can get 9.6+ emunand on n3ds and it cant be fixed until they make another 3ds hardware revision!

We can only hope thats true:)

If a N3DS is built in 2016, they can apply the new hardware to it, (new keys, etc), but I think that's the only way possible to patch it as of now. If you have N3DS now, or it was built then, they can't patch it, since we have the keys.

How do you determine build date? I am going to buy one shortly, so that'll help a lot.

Normally, the box, that's if you're buying a new one. But, I HIGHLY DOUBT anything you'll be buying will be from Dec2015/Jan2016/Patched.

It's nothing to worry about at this point in my opinion, everyone who wants a custom firmware with emuNAND has it. I mean, 10.3 and below consoles are pretty plentiful, if someone doesn't have it set up by now, they obviously didn't want it in the first place. Only the fools kept repeatedly updating. But with that being said, look at all that's happened in the scene in the past few months alone. It's pretty safe to say even if they did, it probably wouldn't matter one bit at all.

Umm, that's exactly how they got the keys: by downgrading a New 3DS to Old 3DS firmware 1.0. It's glitchy as hell when you do that, but it works well enough to dump the magical "OTP". I did it with 2.1 back in November 2015.

It's true. They can't add any extra encryption without a hardware revision.

That 9.6 encryption that kept new3DS users stuck on 9.5? Yeah, we have the keys they used to generate that encryption.

I wouldn't rule out them having something sneaky up their sleeves, but for the time being we're invincible.

Perfect time for the 2016 moron of the year awards nominations though. That's exactly how they got the keys.
