I have an O3DS 10.2-U and I want to update it to 10.3, so that I can downgrade it to 9.2.
I've read that SysUpdater was more stable in 10.3 than other firmwares for downgrading, so...

How can I do it? Just using that very same SysUpdater with the correct CIA for 10.3 and that's that?

Thank you in advance!

Paper Jam, released yesterday, is 10.2. This is a nice firmware since it has the same NATIVE_FIRM as 10.3; meaning it should be a safe upgrade to 10.2 -> 10.3.

Edit: just 3 titles difference.

I see.
The console already is running 10.2, so, then again, should I just use the same SysUpdater with the 10.3 CIA files?

you can downgrade from 10.20 t0 9.2 you can downgrade as long as your not 10.40

Yup. I know. But as it says here, being on 10.3 prevents soft bricking. Of course, I don't want that to happen, as it'd mean I'd be stuck on 10.4 if it fails.

I really don't know if you're any better off downgrading from 10.2 as opposed to 10.3. I doubt it. It's risky either way.

However, someone on 9.8 and has a Paper Jam cart would likely help their chances by upgrading to 10.2. (assuming they don't need their browser for an entry point)

If you read around these downgrading threads, you should see that's MANY cases with downgrading issues happened with <10.2. AND the people who had the issue successfully downgraded 1 or 2 other 3DS from 10.3 without any problem! So you can't blame those people of not knowing what they were doing.

So your statement is not wholefully true in reality (In theory it is though).

Not doubt that you successfully downgraded your 9.9 3DS, just saying the report of issue outnumbers the success case for <10.2.

That sounds logical...; As 10.2 have so few differences to 10.3, and using SysUpdater twice should imply twice the risk (?), I think I'll try to downgrade directly from 10.2.
Thank you all for your answers! I'll post my results when everything is done.

I was able to downgrade not only one, but two 10.2 O3DS directly to 9.2.
Thank you all again for your answers!

Well I did downgrade 2 3DS XLs that were on 9.8 and 9.4 without formatting as well.

i downgraded 10.1 o3DS XL successfully so it wont matter if your on 10.0 to 10.3
O3DS? Perhaps this is more related to N3DS randomness.

Just saying, not making statement, so it's an extra cautious step. People take their own call on the matter.
