I just installed two legit on 10.3 via FBI after so many failed tries two days ago. Although I have updated my n3ds to 10.4 yesterday, which means FBI and NASA does not work, at least in short days, I still want to know the answer to two questions.

1. I saw L button could change destination of CIA in FBI: SD (about 2.8GB free) or Sysnand (about 600MB free). I installed on SD. Any difference?
2. I remember I saw threads telling that legit CIA could not get version update from eshop. Then could it use update installed already? for example, I have a mario kart 7 cartridge and get a update from eshop. Then if I install legit CIA of mk7, could this CIA use the update of mk7 cartridge that has been installed? 3ds, cartridge and CIA are in same region (US).

Thank you very much.

Hi.

1. The difference is that "everything" should be installed to SD, excepting DSi games and some homebrew apps, which would only work installed on NAND. (Or if you're installing system files in CIA format, they should be installed on NAND, too, since NAND is the internal flash memory of the system).
2. Yes. The update is installed in the console, so no matter if you use a cartridge, a digital game or a CIA (which is a digital game, anyway).

Thank you very much. Clear explanation.

many times stuck on "Cleaning up", then long pressed power button to restart and retry, don't remember how many times...
final only one time "Done" without freezing, it worked...
so plz retry or use NASA, which seems to be better.

2. You can update Legit installed cia games like any other purchased game, by pressing Y or update through the eShop
2a. IF you install an update downloaded from a site as cia over your legit game, your game loses it's legit status!, so don't do that.
2b. Like your mario kart example:
I have installed ANY cia game (legit or not) and i do have the retail cartriges to of those game, i can update with the gamecart and play the installed legit or not) cia game with that update, once installed it doesn't matter if its legit or not. (presuming it's the same game (cia game is same regio as your retail cart)

Note:
That's the main reason i use my Sky3DS, if an installed non legit cia game asks for an update, i flash it to my Sky3DS pop it in and get the update, cause sky3ds acts like a retail cartridge)
