So how would I get to 10.3? Sysupdater or something?
Yeah, but it could've just been bad luck on my part from 9.4. I would google and see if there have been reports of success downgrading from 9.9

I got a softbrick downgrading from 9.4, so I'm not sure. Downgrading from 10.3 worked perfectly after I used recovery mode.

This has the same risk as the newest version of SysUpdater. It just verifies that you're not screwing up yourself (verifies correct update pack, md5 checksums). As far as the downgrade process, that's not 100% safe in either version. No reports of hard brick AFAIK with safeSysUpdater tough.
If your downgrade pack is for the same 3DS model (o3DS = o3DS downgrade pack, N3DS = N3DS downgrade pack, not interchangable) then you're fine using that pack.
If you don't want to risk anything, then this is not for you.
Also note that if you get soft brick, you'll get 10.4 in recovery process. So no entry points except BrowserHax or NinjHax (don't quote me on that, not entirely sure).
It seems that people not on 10.3 have a tougher time downgrading sucessfully, most people get soft brick and then used to update to 10.3 and then were able to downgrade just fine. But that's out the window now that 10.4 is out

Well you forgot to say that you should be praying when the downgrade process starts, or get yourself some good luck amulets

Thanks OP, made an account to thank you.

Worked beautifully.

Downgraded 10.3 US N3DS to 9.2 U in one shot. :)

Just for the record, this was on the Zelda Triforce Edition (New 3DS bought last November)

Thanks gonna try those methods then. And I can just put in a new 32gb card right after formatting it to FAT32? Without adding any files etc or copying the files on the 8gb card I have now? (I don't have any game orso installed, just used it to downgrade)

Yes you can just plugged it in once formatted.

Question:

Does this syupdater is safe to update to 10.3.0-28 for 3DS between 9.3 and 10.2? I meant most successful downgrade happens at 10.3.0-28 so perhaps we should update to 10.3 first before attempting to downgrade? And for most people only tested the downgrade side, how about the update side of the app?

Some users didn't update to 10.3 but got their system downgraded to 9.2 fine. For your other question, this sysupdater is only used for downgrading since it has memchunkhax2 in it, So if you want to update to a specific firmware, you should use the normal sysupdater.

I didn't ask for for report on <10.3 successful downgrade, since I saw that it's much more hit and miss than downgrading from 10.3 (I downgraded 2 N3DS myself from 10.3 in 1 try without any kind of problem).

Can the normal official sysupdater work with >9.2 though? I thought that sysupdater only works for CFW without firmlaunch (correct me if I am wrong).

Question remains: is there a safe update method for 3DS between 9.3 and 10.2 to update 10.3?

Successfully downgraded
N3dsXL Majora Mask Edition on 10.3-E
after 30 retries! Thanks :)
I did not format the system data!

N3DSXL 10.3E here, using Menuhax 2.1 and the method of starting FTP with quickly mashing B to get back to HBC before launching SSU. Verifying CIA files works flawlessly with no errors. But every time I try to press downgrade I just get the red dots on the bottom left of the top screen and I restart the console. Am I just getting unlucky and have to keep trying or am I missing something?

Edit: After what felt like the 50th attempt it worked. It didn't reboot on its own but so far it looks like everything worked. Will see once I do the whole emuNAND installation tomorrow. But for now it's on 9.2 by the looks of it.
