I've used my launch day O3DS for what's been nearly 5 years now. I've noticed that it's been loading the home menu and many apps and games slower than it used to. Also, I would love to be able to play some New 3DS exclusives like Binding of Isaac.

As well, it seems that now is the peak of best time to get a New 3DS for hacking and homebrew because the current firmware version is exploitable (and if I were to mess up on a downgrade and get softbricked, I would be able to update via recovery mode back to the current exploitable firmware version 10.3).

I've found a seller on my local Kijiji that is selling a brand new unopened red New 3DS XL, which he doesn't want because he got it as a gift and doesn't have time for gaming, and he is selling it for $200 outright. Here in Canada, the dollar is shitty, so a New 3DS XL from a store costs us ~$260 CAD in Ontario ($230 + 13% tax iirc). I could save a lot of money if I go with the Kijiji route, but what if the system is defective? I probably wouldn't be able to return it to the seller, but could I send it in to Nintendo, even if I don't have proof of purchase? (if the seller had a gift receipt for the N3DSXL, he would probably return it to the store and get back $260 instead of selling it to me for $200). What do you guys think?

I would love to import a regular New 3DS (because I don't want to buy the Animal Crossing or Pokemon N3DS bundles which are the only ways to get a regular US N3DS), but they are crazy expensive, like $240 CAD for an Australian import. Or do you guys know any good cheap places (cheap in Canadian dollars) to import a regular N3DS?

Finally, is the N3DS/XL worth it for me to upgrade? Are the loading speeds and gaming experiences that much better? Are the exclusives good? Would it be a wise investment? Help me out guys, please!

I predict that the o3ds won't be able to play future games well. Surely it'll be playable.. Nintendo would never kill off support for it.. but it won't be a good experience. I highly recommend upgrading while you can, especially since you got a good deal.

I don't know about the loading speeds, but the constant max framerate is very nice and noticeable on newer games and even on games like ACNL

I just recently got an O3DS XL for around 110$. I didn't see a reason to buy a New 3DS XL, mostly because I dislike the 3D effect, and only wanted to play some games and run some emulators.

man, it's definitely worth to get N3ds just for bigger screen, better display with stable 3d, but not for few exclusive games which u mentioned: Isaac is a very bad porting, it's bugful, fps drops, and i found steam version far better, Xenoblade 'll offer greater experience on 32''tv with wii's unique controller :) As far as i know there are no N3ds' esclusives on schedule.

Thanks, you three. Do you know anything about if I would be able to get the Kijiji N3DSXL fixed through Nintendo (if something were to be wrong with it)?

Maybe, but it probably won't be free and they'll likely update it (so do it before they patch the downgrading exploit). The sooner you act, the better.

It's not just about 3D though: The overall performance is better on the N3DS:

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Also nice. Never really watched Fallout on Prime, but sounds like a good show. +1
