Homebrew How good is GBA emulation on New 3DS?

That's fine if you're not concerned with moving save files around or having any other additional features. It's pretty much on par with all the other Nintendo VC stuff. As long as you don't mind not being able to easily access a raw save file and not having any features beyond it running well and saving, it'll serve you well.

I'm just going off of what a friend has said about running it on his N3DS as I don't have one. He still gets minor slowdowns in areas of minish Cap where there's heavy translucent effects, for example. Nothing drastic, but noticeable. I don't know what nightly he's using, though.
I'm sure he is using 3dsx version, without kenerhax, then the speed will just be so-so like playing on o3ds with kernelhax

since you are talking about 9.2 n3ds, you could take advantage of dynamic recompiler and high clock rates, that means 2.5~3 times of the speed overnthat of n3ds without kernel hax.

the color will be different vc vs emulator?... how different
I think he may just be referring to the extremely noticeable ghosting present when running VC gba games which often results in giving the game the appearance of being slightly more washed out in motion.

I mean GBA games are washed out by default regardless as that's how games were originally designed for the console to make viewing easier without a backlight.

thing is why ca't thy just get gba emulation full speed on old 3ds like whats the issue getting it to run full speed on that i know the old 3ds isn't very power ful but your emulating a gba pretty much any thing can emulate that

Nah, he's running the CIA version I'm fairly sure, as I saw him boot it. Had the gpSP icon and the LibRetro banner. It wasn't a big drop in FPS, just maybe dropping to around 55fps. It's minor but noticeable. It could also be some setting he messed with. I don't know what his video settings are, nor do I know how old his version is. I'll have to pester him about it if it is fairly perfect now.

You've asked several times and been told why.
It's specs aren't that good, and it takes time. Likely we will never see flawless emulation across the board.

Okay, so in my opinion, mGBA is the way to go if you are using the New3DS.

It has worked wonders for me in the past, and has ran with absolutely no interruptions.

Also gba VC won't work in Emunand on n3ds so emulating is really a good alternative. I can also confirm that retroarch gpsp works absolutely fine.

Sorry what? I'm using VC Gba titles on RxTools on my N3DS XL 9.0

Could you post which version you're using? Because mGBA runs like absolute ASSSSSS for me on N3ds.

Yeah probably on an old rxtools like 10-02. Newer nightlies don't run it anymore. But they have region free support, which I prefer.

Mgba is shit. Use retroarch gpsp.

Ohhhhh you got me there bruh. I haven't updated RxTools at all. :P

I use gpsp but mGBA is the only one that has support for the gyro in Wario Ware Twisted AFAIK.
