While I agree on the design part (the classic O3DS is the best imo, especially with the the top screen), the N3DS is still very good if you don't have the old one in the first place. And actually, emulators work way better on N3DS than on O3DS, and that's a good thing :P

The hacks work on it better, it has better speakers and the design seems classier and not as cheap. I am very disappointed with the n3ds. Tedious hack process and very small reward margin.

Well, n3ds has better 3D, better battery, is more powerful, tends not to scratch its' own top screen, has extra buttons and looks sleeker. I would say n3ds edges out the o3ds, even if CFW isn't as simple on n3ds.

There is no room for comaprison. I have O3ds and the xl version. I also have the N3ds and it's much better in every aspect.

To be honest, I'm glad I managed to brick my N3DS because it allowed me to pick up a cheap and brand-new O3DS XL. And I could be rest-assured that it would ship with <=9.2 so I wouldn't have to take the risk of downgrading and hardbricking again. That's one of the many good advantages of trying to find a 3DS with a low enough FW and also to be safe in the process. :)

"the hacks work on it better" please explain.

"the design seems classier and not as cheap." I would argue otherwise for the standard New3DS, of which I have one.

o3ds has 10.3 emunand, and most hacks were properly designed for the o3ds.
i prefer the n3ds design though

The 3DS was't exactly designed with hacking in mind. Given that it's been less than a year since N3DS came out, modding's still a relatively new thing for it.

Having used both O3DS and N3DS, I'd say that the newer model's an improvement, although both models have their own shortcomings. Here are a few of my thoughts:
- Stabilised 3D on the N3DS feels leaps and bounds more comfortable than standard 3D on O3DS, though I feel that Nintendo should have made that a feature when the 3DS initially launched, rather than waiting a generation
- I know that the thread is specifically referring to the XL, but the matte surface of the standard N3DS feels more comfortable, and less likely to attract fingermarks and dirt (too bad for N3DS XL, which is glossy)
- Though the N3DS is harder to mod, things like emulators run much more smoothly on it, performance in general is much faster too (eg. faster boot times)
- New buttons and C-stick on N3DS is useful in games that support them, although most games don't
- The placement of the power button and cartridge slot on the N3DS is a little inconvenient though, it's easy to accidentally hit the power switch or eject the cartridge

How well the N3DS is received will probably depend on what Nintendo can do with the new exclusive features. Let's hope they don't take the DSi route.

N3DS only for emulators, which you can use any other electronic device you own for those. Other then emulators, O3DS since imo there are no N3DS exclusive games worth playing except xenoblade if you are into rpg's and for that you can just play the original wii version.

The battery issue with O3DS can be fixed by getting a extended battery.
