Out of curiosity, what's the deal with those of us with AUS (australian) consoles? Do we use EUR legit cia's or are we just shit outta luck?
Oh. Huh. I didn't think about that, what's your system's region? Like, what does your system version end in? (E/U/JP)

I'd try the EU CIAs.

My friend that bought a 3DS in Australia uses EUR games :x

I wonder, what happens if you try to reinstall another region's legit CIA after installation and deletion?

Edit: Nothing happens, it doesn't show up in Redownload and will ask you to buy it if you search for it.

I'm trying to install the european legit cias on my 3dsxl running f/w 9.5 using FBI and it just fails immediately with a summary_wrong_argument error. I've been trying this over 50 times and it keeps coming up with the same error. Sometimes it starts installing for a second but it just shows up the same error again. I have no idea why it's doing this where, for all intents and purposes, it should work.

Unless i'm doing something completely wrong.

Is there any reason for you not to update?

I read so many times not to update that I didn't want to do it.

I'm a bit curious, but I might as well start to finish the games I already have, lol.

Unless there's a way to backup those saves.

can you install different region games? ex: EUR on US.

I installed SSB on my USA 3DS, but I couldn't play. I got to the mode selection screen, but it froze in the loading screen.

I had no success after several tries with the official newest version of FBI, it immediately goes to the INVALID_COMMAND error, I now got the one from the OP.
I turned off Wifi like some suggested and I also ran some other homebrews before starting FBI (usually ftbrony, the theme installer and the emulator that all come with the homebrew starter pack).
I had to reboot several times as well because of FBI either freezing or the usual INVALID_COMMAND error but finally it pulled through.
Installing FE Awakening right now, hope it will work. :)

True. I guess that still applies, though CIA installation/downgrade still works on 10.3.

About Smash, it's not its fault, HANS doesn't work with it at all.

Cheers, maybe I'll give it a shot if I can work up the nerve to attempt this. Don't want to run that 0.00001% chance of a brick tbh.
I totally get you, bro. You probably won't even get into the app to break your 3DS, but the worry is still there.

Do you know what I feared the most? Hitting update and getting the 10.4 firmware, haha.
