What's wrong with mega specifically?

I went to dl the app. Insanely annoying password minimum. Said I already used my email, who knows how long ago. No blatantly obviously recovery option. App install finishes and my whole desktop redraws and flickers, I'm sure that safe. Creates a few folders in Documents, etc. Just shady from start to finish.
Usenet, nzb file, done.
Ftp, log in, grab, done.
Hell I'd even prefer a torrent at that point. I'm just not fond of things that needs it own log in.

How do you know those are good? I just want to be safe that those were download from NUS.
