I'm running this through skater and menuhax HBL, but from neither I'm able to dump my sysNAND.
It outputs:

EmuNAND not found on SD card
Dump SysNAND to NAND.bin: failed!
Press B to return, START to reboot.

What option did you select in the menu?

Thanks for pointing this out! I'll see about fixing this tomorrow.

Edit: well, that's a small bug in the code. The SysNAND dumper checks for availability of EmuNAND, although that's not required at all. It will work once EmuNAND is set up. Fix coming soon!

OK, I suspected it would be something like this. I'm gonna make a backup of my SD contents and setup EmuNAND.

Alternatively, you can use Decrypt9 (check my signature) to dump the SysNAND. The bug is only in EmuNAND9Tool.

Actually I'd suggest Decrypt9's FBI injection (its in @d0k3's signature) then you can set up emuNAND if you perfer

Well, I'm unsure where this tutorial is from, and I see nothing in there that actually involves setting up an EmuNAND. Of course you should use EmuNAND9 to setup the EmuNAND . And if you need a CIA installer on there, yup, Decrypt9 FBI injection is the way to go, but you can also do this after you setup the EmuNAND. It is pretty easy, promised.

Already fixed this, new release is up. That bug prevented EmuNAND9 to dump the SysNAND backup when no EmuNAND was set up.

Everyone, also note that I renamed this tool to EmuNAND9. This is more memorable and also doesn't sound too much like EmuNAND Tool. Thanks @Shadowtrance for proposing this!

Injecting FBI into H&S is a manual step... you need Decrypt9 and the Universal Inject Generator (both in my signature, don't know how often I have typed that now ). I'd suggest you create the EmuNAND, then inject it into the EmuNAND. You can inject it into the SysNAND, too, of course, but most non-nandmod-owner prefer not to modify the SysNAND if it is not absolutely required.

What @dark_samus3 said. Also, I know it would be convenient, but that's a two step operation that requires using a PC, and it also modifies the EmuNAND (which I'm trying to avoid at least in EmuNAND9). It is not that difficult, just do it yourself. You can customize the starter pack to include an inject ready hs.app though (that would only work for you, there's no one size fits all). Not everything in life is handed to you on a silver platter .

BTW @d0k3 its a bit off topic, but have you seen the 3ds talk? I couldn't believe all of the bombs they dropped... ARM9 on N3DS from cold boot... The ultimate goal, too bad it's only for n3ds... I'm betting it won't be long until an arm9 exploit is out, we get Brahma3 and Decrypt9 for all users 4.x-10.3

Is EmuNAND9 compatible with emuNANDtool (PC app) dumps?
I put an emuNAND.bin backup I extracted from an old 8gb card with emuNANDtool onto a new 32gb SD card but application says unable to open emunand.bin? Also I formatted the SD card and created the emuNAND partition with EmuNAND9 with no problems.
Would it be possible? Thanks, SM

You could also just install FBI.cia via Pasta and FBI.3dsx before formatting Emunand. If you backup the contents of SD before formatting Emunand and restore it afterwards, it'll also be in Emunand. That way no H&S injection is needed at all.

Could someone, in short, please list the steps necessary to format Emunand? I would really like to implement that in my tutorial, replacing Cubic Ninja and Gateway, but as I don't want to set up my device again I can't just do it myself. I would need the names of the options and what to choose to set up Emunand. Thanks!
