I got a 3ds xl. And alpha sapphire. Trying to use pkhex.

I tried this. I can't get YouTube app unless I access Eshop. Eshop requires firmware update.

I tried this too but the web won't work unless I update firmware.

Is there anything I can do? After I extracted the latest tube hex to SD root, I see YouTube app on home but still needs download. I need to get this. Any help is appreciated

A full list of entry points to the homebrew launcher is available here: http://smealum.github.io/3ds/

It can be done through the web browser, the home menu, cubic ninja, zelda ocarina of time, ironfall, and super smash bros

I have never used menuhax, although maybe someone else can help get that going. Otherwise OOT and Cubic Ninja are both prooven and working methods of getting in as well if you have them.

I'm lost. I tried that and downloaded the hombres into my root. Still needs me to update.

I'm new to home brew. Not sure how it works. Is home brew all I need for the web browser hack?

I don't have web browser and YouTube now.
You're on 9.9.0-26U on a 3DSXL with no web browser? Are you sure? Try tapping the globe icon on the top-right corner of the bottom screen in the home menu. Make sure you have WiFi access and have your SD structured like:

SD:/3ds/<homebrew folders>
SD:/boot.3dsx

Then, attempt to run browserhax by pressing L+R to go to camera mode, tap the QR code mode, then scan this QR code:
http://yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax_auto_qrcode.png

And finally load the web-page the image gives you.

Theres a web browser but can't use it unless I update. Not sure how to install home brew.. saw some vide tutorial but they needed YouTube I don't have it. Plus idk which file to download from the link provided. The home brew site takes me to gut hub... so many files . Which file goes to my ds root.

Can you give me link to download the home brew directly with the boot file? The links are all over the place and I don't know which folder or link its in under git hub

You can also use Cubic Ninja or OoT to get into the homebrew channel... but if you don't have those, you're in luck, because just today/yesterday browserhax got updated for the (currently) latest firmware.

You can update and use browserhax2, but I cannot guarantee the next kernel exploit (whenever that will be) will support 10.3.0-28.

If you prefer an offline entrypoint for homebrew, consider preparing shufflehax through browserhax2, or just don't update and rely on the Cubic Ninja/OoT physical carts.

Do I put the entire directory from github inside SD root? Where is the boot file?

This is assuming you will choose to update to the current latest 3DS firmware, 10.3.0-28.

Download the starter kit from here: https://smealum.github.io/3ds/

Put these files on your SD card's root so it's structured like this:

SD:/3ds/
SD:/Themes/
SD:/boot.3dsx

Then put the SD card in your 3DS, turn on your 3DS, press L+R to enter camera mode, then tap QR mode and scan this: http://yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax_auto_qrcode.png

Let it open the web browser and it should boot you into the homebrew menu. (If it crashes, hold the power button until it turns off, then try again)

(I'm unsure if that will load the proper webpage. If that QR code continues to

I would imagine yes. As long as you can get into the homebrew channel, the rest of the video's tutorial should still apply.

However, anything CFW/CIA-related will not work until the latest firmware gets a kernel exploit, and I don't know when that will be. I think everything mentioned in that video should work, though.

I guess what I just need after home brew is to get my cartridge save file to pkhex then bring it back. Any idea? I will update to current firmware since that will give me functional browser and apps then use latest starter kit files

The Homebrew Loader (SD:/boot.3dsx) lets you run any homebrew inside "SD:/3ds/" in userland mode, including the "save_manager" mentioned in that tutorial. Extract save_manager (.7z is an archive file that can be extracted with 7-zip if you haven't used that before) and merge the "3ds" folder in that archive with the one you put on your SD, which was included in the homebrew starter pack.

Run browserhax to get into the homebrew loader, then run save_manager inside the menu to dump the save from your game cart, following the rest of the video tutorial (~6:23 or so) to work with pkhex.

Once you're done editing your file, load up save_manager again and inject your modified save back into your cart. I recommend making a save backup before any modification in pkhex.
