Quick question, which may or may not be related to this

I was using rxTools (stable build from 10/2) on a clean install and using this great guide to inject FBI to H&S using Decrypt9

All running well and still is, however today i upgraded my rxTools to the very latest build which @Dean_ posted up, the installation went fine and its running sweet, FBI is still inside H&S but a very strange thing when i entered emuNAND was 2 unwrapped icons with no names to them, i unwrap them and they turn into black boxes which i am unable to delete (or i don't know how to delete them)

I am wondering if this could be something to do with my FBI injection ? Just asking is all

Thanks

I had a similar problem. I believe it had something to do with there being no dbs folder with title.db and import.db inside. If you put in a fresh copy of the folder with the files into Nintendo 3DS/ string of numbers until you find extdata, and then go to the system settings into data management then game content, it should prompt you to restore those files. (If it didn't then you placed it in the Sysnand assuming you haven't downloaded anything on that yet.) That should prevent the black apps from installing.

That being said though, I don't know how you could uninstall them. I eventually just reset my emunand and made sure I did the steps above to prevent it from happening again.

Thanks for the speedy reply, just thinking out loud i have plenty of other things installed so not sure why that would happen but will take a look now, thanks for the pointer

Edit : The folders are definately there, just double checked (correct emuNAND folder)

Very weird, really don't want to have to format emuNAND just to remove these black boxes

Thanks for the suggestion all the same

"You will need to go to the "Nintendo 3DS/<id0>/<id1>/dbs/" directory on your SD card and create empty "title.db" and "import.db" files. Then, go to System Settings -> Data Management -> Nintendo 3DS -> Software on your 3DS and let it repair the database files."

Those are the exact steps. If you don't see the dbs folder, make it. You can make the .db files by opening up notepad and then saving them as .db extension manually. (By making sure to select all files first instead of text files only when saving)

If anyone can find a fix for the black apps without having to reset the emunand though, that'd be great. (By the way, if you are planning on formating your emunand MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP YOUR SD CARD FIRST. It'll formart the SD card too.)

Hi there, thanks again for the speedy reply, the folders and files already exist on my sd card

Are you advising me to delete the existing "title.db" and "import.db" files and replace them with empty ones and allow it to repair the database files ?

Doesn't work in win 32, because ctrtool is only a 64-bit program! Is gui version older than the script since it makes different apps?

Well i tried this and lost all my installed content (quite a lot of content too) and the black boxes remain

So looks like i have a lot of re-installing to do

Just grab a working copy of CTRtool. Maybe this one works?

Sorry to hear about that. This can't have to do anything with using injection, though. As I said before, the modification is as minimal as it gets. The worst thing that can happen (if you do something wrong) is that you lose your H&S app, and even that is fixable.

I have FBI injected and working well inside H&S

On the root of my card i still have these 2 files..

Can they now be deleted or do i need to keep them there ?

Thanks

You can remove them. I suggest you always keep a copy of your original H&S app, though. Just in case you want to generate new inject files later.

FIXED!

Hi! I ended up moving the hs.app file into the input directory and ran the program. It's giving no red flags whatsoever, but I'm not finding any "inject-ready.app" anywhere?

--EDIT--
I forgot to put the .cia file into the input directory along with the hs.app file, forgive my clumsiness, I'm extremely tired!

you should have 2 files in the same folder as go.bat called CIAname_inject_no_banner.app and CIAname_inject_with_banner.app

It worked flawlessly! I've been pulling my hair out over this for a long time, thank you so much! Do you guys have somewhere I could donate?

Hey guys, in my attempt to get this up and running, I noticed a few bugs with the go.bat and process.bat scripts.

1. They don't support CIA files with spaces in their names. (Breaks copying of hs.app as %2 becomes the second half of the CIA filename)
2. Processing more than one CIA at a time doesn't work. You end up with multiple files, but they're all exactly the same with the same hash.

Edit: Regardless of these issues, I have successfully injected FBI 1.4.15 into EmuNAND and everything is fine and dandy now.

I tried FBI 1.4.16 initially but it got stuck on "Loading file list..."

Space issue will be tackled soon (should be easy), I haven't tried with multiple CIAs yet... will have to mess with it, that issue seems to be FBIs fault... maybe not, we'll see but I know older version of FBI all worked fine as does devmenu and other applications, try with the version before the current one and if that works then install FBI as a CIA and see if that loads... hope you get it

I tried to tackle it myself but couldn't figure out the best place to add the quotes in the file looping part of go.bat. Results weren't so good...

On the second issue from what I could tell, either the first CIA processed or the last would end up being the file that gets copied for every CIA file. I think that in the middle of process.bat somewhere (probably at the end) you have to delete everything in the work directory to get the next CIA to process correctly. I think some of the calls to the executables are not overwriting files.

Thanks for all the work on this toolset, saved me from having to write data to my SysNAND. :)

If you're still around add "delims=" (actually include the quotes this time) after the for in go.bat and see if that works (I can't test myself) if it doesn't then you'll also need quotes on the %1 (since that's the CIA file) in process.bat this should take care of the space issues
