i'm on the latest nightly i havent had any problems on the 8th november one maybe i should just go back on that one
I -think- I'm on the Nov. 11th nightly and I have that problem too.
Bring up menu, try going back to game, 3DS freezes completely.

Only the New 3DS is fast enough to play GBA games at a decent speed.
On Retroarch maybe.
AGB_FIRM works really well.

Most likely cause is bad rom set, read the preceding errors. The error you quote just means emulation can't get going because of some other issue.
Ok. Thanks. I gotta find where to find a good rom then.

Sounds like @andremario81 forgot to get a BIOS for Sega CD. Check the topic post for instructions.
I got the bios but I think it is a bad rom...question is where would I find one? Decisions. Thanks all.

You would be a real 'hustler' if you found a good 'rom'

That site's about as trustworthy as most of the others that get recommended... in so much as I wouldn't trust the roms from there.
If it's not a no-intro set, goodset, or similar (ie, either a complete romset that's been built from a verified dat in clrmamepro or romcentre, or an individual rom from one of those sets), my advice is don't bother ...or run all your downloaded roms through clrmamepro against a dat from no-intro or good.

Ah... Well I have no idea then. Most I get are from chance encounters with friends having sets of roms.
Just got a big dump of a few hundred Nes titles from a neighbor...

So no more hustling for me I guess.

I have that issue. If you mean the menu goes black on the bottom where it shows the fps at. I have to tap the middle followed by the top or middle right of the screen to bring it back up. I'm using the 11/11 or 11/10 build. 3dsx file on 10.3 hax 2.5 n3ds.
Not that issue it's like the Retroarch menu freeze the whole emulator if you touch it because it's stubborn so I'm playing it safe with the 8/11 nightly

Wow. Can we just take a minute to properly thank the devs of these 3DS ports. I mean I'm finally playing gba games fullspeed scaled 2x at fullscreen on my 3DS. IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL. The entire screen is filled. The ENTIRE SCREEN and it looks native!!!! Wow. This is the day I've been waiting for. God damn. Thank you, thank you.
Can you tell me what settings you are using?

Kind of a newbie to all this, but my 2DS has sysnand 9.2 and emunand 10.2
And i have homemenuhax, ninjahax(2 i think) and browserhax

So basically, i can't do anything. (?)
Since you have kernel hax you can use AGB_FIRM (like is in the first post) and inject GBA games. It's far better than gPSP/mGBA especially on o3ds/2DS.

VC injects are not as convenient to use as mere ROM+Emulator.
With VC injects you have the issue of not having the game save properly and other stuff like that.
Besides doing the inject for each game you want can be rather tiresome.

Anyone have issues with Load Recent not working? It always says No playlist entries available. I'm using the latest nightlies, and Catsfc and Catsfc plus only.

Yes that's the problem (-__-) it frustrated me to wonder why it's happening
Ok. Do me a favor and try deleting Retroarch.cfg in the Retroarch folder on your SD card.

I just deleted this and it seems to have fixed my issue.

Even tried multiple boots on the same core.

And even tried launching different cores: mGBA Libretro and Nestopia Libretro

Please let me know if this solves your issue.

Would also suggest getting CTRXplorer just for quick file deletion without having to remove SD card or connect to a computer.

Okay, okay. All you 3DS programmers out there, tell me... if you had access to official Nintendo SDKs and resources, would it be possible to make Game Boy Advance emulation run well on the system? Like, well enough for Nintendo to actually sell these games on the eShop, with Miiverse support? Because if that's true, Nintendo's cheated 3DS owners out of a whole lotta fun.

It's partly possible, some GBA titles were available as downloads for Nintendo Ambassadors. But for technical reasons Nintendo wasn't able to release these GBA titles as Virtual Console downloads, and it was decided that GBA games wouldn't be made available on the 3DS eShop. The Ambassador GBA titles aren't the same as Virtual Console games.

According to this article, Virtual Console games work in 3DS mode with the OS running in the background, but GBA games need to run off the CPU core that's reserved for the OS, so they weren't able to properly emulate the GBA. When running GBA titles, the 3DS is actually running in DS mode with a simulated GBA cart inserted into a simulated Slot-2. That's 2 layers of simulation. As such, they couldn't offer the same Virtual Console features for GBA titles as other Virtual Console platforms because it wasn't even running as a 3DS. Nintendo decided that it would be better to not launch GBA for 3DS Virtual Console than to release it with broken or missing features. The limitation isn't down to CPU speed, but the actual type of CPU core and how GBA games are being treated.

The reason why GBA emulation works on homebrew is because the 3DS isn't running all its OS features in the background but instead dedicating all of its resources to the emulation, which is something official Nintendo software isn't allowed to do.
