Gudenaurock, along with me and a few others elsewhere, are trying to figure out the byte(s) that lock hacked equipment from being used online properly or being uploaded as Miis. To be simple, we request two things:
  • anyone with a save file with a lot of equipment: send it over. The larger our bank of unedited equipment, the better, so that we can figure out how to work on the game's terms (and off of them).
  • anyone with any knowledge on how Smash 4 code works and preexisting access to a romfs to check with, donate any information you have. Currently, plan B is to just find the equation\algorithm used to generate the byte, albeit that may be a much more stressful process

Cant you just use http://www.ssbwiki.com/equipment#Equipment_stats to find out if the equipment is legal. Also, you might be able to see if equipment is legal by testing customs in online smash(it kicks you if it isnt legal). Not sure how you could automate this but good luck.
There's a specific byte for every piece of equipment that will register the equipment as 'hacked' if it's not exactly right, even if everything else is perfect. We don't know how it's generated at the moment. That's what we're trying to figure out

Oh, sorry I didnt know. Tomorrow Ill delete my edited equipment and upload the save to you. Also, if your looking in the code to see where it is checked look at the section for giving equipment to amiibos, because it doesnt include the hacked equipment.

This is a completely unrelated note, but what do you think can be done with this guy? asdadasdads.PNG He seems to have a entire move set. Maybe it can be something like playing as the alloy fighters from brawl. I havent been keeping up with smash4 modding.

There is a reason we're asking for help...

When I said the code, I was referring mainly to the game's code, not the save data - i.e. the stuff that governs how it's created, not the thing that contains all the created stuff. Amiibo stuff likely isn't relevant

Nonrelevant, but okay: just looked into it for you, they don't function in any sort of .acmd I can find. Maybe Ridley (on Wii U) would be able to load as a normal character, since it probably has .acmds and can have kills counted towards the player on it's side, but Idunno about flying man.

Would sending a 3ds save containing characters transferred from Wii U to the 3ds help in finding variation in data? Is it even helpful, or would it not matter in any way?

It's more equipment itself than it is customs or full characters, but yes, that might help. So long as you make clear what's from Wii U and what isn't, be it in a .txt or otherwise.

How can I get rid of the edited equipment? When I try to sell it it doesn't appear. Is there a way to do this with a save editor?

Set stats as 0-0. Game deletes them on the spot. Plus I could just see that it's 0-0 and ignore it anyway, lol

if anyone has a powersave 4 amiibo, and wants to just keep rotating 2 amiibo to import equips, you can add a thousand or so unique badges in an hour.
IDEALLY, you'd erase your save data first. so that 100% of the equips in the save file are legit.
if I had a save file like this, I could do some big data algorithms to find how the byte is being generated mathematically.

if the entire badge collection in the save isn't legit then please don't post it, as solving for "true" in a corrupted formula would be a waste of time.

I'm not saying "someone" could do this, I'm saying I will do it. just gimme the damn save file!
