Means you can run romhacks without deleting the updates from your 3DS.

if you want to use update patch
you must have a 3ds<9.2 then you can Decrypt and Extract update patch
then copy them to romfs folder and rebuild

Issue is, you can't use your save file, play online, or experience any of the patches. My main is practically useless in the un-updated version...

I just downloaded some music from brawl custom music, re-packed the romfs using https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-romfs-builder.379330/ and removed the first 0x1000 bytes using a hex editor.
Really easy, but I guess I could make a more in-depth guide later if it's really necessary.

I hear most of it is in a large archive, good luck! (I want to edit Shulk's model a little myself)

Some people have already managed to rip models from Smash 3DS since long ago, so as long as we can manage to reinject the modified files, I guess we'll be seeing at least texture hacks pretty soon!

And also, someone is aware of the space required on the SD, to dump the files from ORAS? You can also tell me the space required for XY. If I remember correctly, the size of ORAS are slightly lower.

Its going to take a loooooong time to dump ORAS. Im currently dumping it. Its 1.8 gigabytes by the way. Im about 200 mbs in and its been about 2 hours
