I'm also thinking of this. Not quite what you said. But more general. I think using HANS on system apps (transfer app or settings app, maybe) and modifying the romfs could lead to a kernel exploit, somehow, or at least more permissions.

I've also thought about that, maybe it could work to use an older version of the Internet Browser or whatever else that was formerly exploitable. Although I couldn't find an option to launch the Internet Browser, I did find one to launch System Settings and even the Home Menu

wow nice thought! if that's gonna be real I'll be the first to try it
if understand it the right way, you say that we'll be able to inject cia files to sysnand from sd card via spoofing the built-in system transfer app by using the HANS? it'll be really great! real hacking!

if you're on sys version 9.2> then you can do it.
1. dump 3ds rom from cart to sd card with GW
2. convert it to cia(search gbatemp for tutorial)
3. install the cia
On 10.1, would that work? Very tired right now so i'm not sure if that 9.2> means 9.2 and up or 9.2 and below, even though it's probably obvious

it means 9.2 and down. on 10.1 the only option is to use sky3ds which only runs 3ds files (mimic'ing an original phisic card) and there's no way currently to install CIA's (eshop/digital copies of games) on this firmware, which sucks. I stuck with this firmware too, so you're not the only one.

We can now some rom hacks into our legally owned games. So what? The thing here is that no 3ds game steps into kernel land, that meaning even if you manage to put an exploit into your rom hack it would live on userland.
