CATSFC is the best in terms of speed. CATSFC Plus is slower but has a more accurate audio core. Snes9x Next is slow.

The issue you have is a known bug and also affects Mario Bros 3. Standalone Mario World doesn't have that issue though, so use that instead.

Heh that's funny because SMW and SMB3 were the only two games I had a chance to test with CatSFC before posting. Thanks for the heads up.

Sorry to beat the dead horse once more, but i want to say that i'll stop the Ganbatte full speed battle.

However, i won't stop testing and posting results now and then, most of all i read in this thread is how amazing everything is and how good everything runs on N3DS, almost no O3DS comments and to be honest i'm FED UP of buy a N3DS bullsh*t. We O3DS owners don't have one for whatever reason is, and i can't spend a money i don't have.

I can't stress this enough, developers need to be reminded that something is not perfect. If i'm the only O3DS user to do it so be it, and if it's annoying i'm not sorry. I wont stop, i can't stop and, after seeing how things went with certain PC emulators i DON'T WANT to stop. I'm thinking on being annoying with Genesis GX core too now that there's a Master System emulator that achieves fullspeed as far as i tested.

PS: I don't know if you think i am a troll but i'm not, i'm just concerned.

Are save states between different cores for the same system compatible? I was thinking that maybe if I use a different emulator to get past the intro to Super Mario RPG, even if it's much slower, I could make a save state and transfer it over to CATSFC.

Better off using the .srm save files as they would work.

Yes, but I remember reading that CATSFC still crashes on that game on loading saves. Now, if they meant in-game saves, then I can just compensate for that via save-states, hence the compatibility question.

This thread is becoming a nightmare with regards keeping up with developments. Since I last checked in, about 10 hours ago, there have been 5 pages of comments - most of which are the same thing being answered repeatedly ("what's the difference between catsfc and catsfc+?", etc), and some was even irrelevant vita discussion.
Can we split the discussion into sub-threads? Not necessarily a thread for each core, but perhaps a thread for catsfc/catsfc+/snes9x another for fb_alpha cores another for mednafen cores and divide what's left similarly, and keep this thread for general debate and news of the latest nightlies developments? All sub-threads could be linked in the OP, and each could have an OP that's a basic tutorial for the cores that it covers. It would definitely make it a lot easier to find relevant information and would hopefully minimize this thread getting clogged up with the same questions from those not wanting to read through 100+ pages to find the information they need.

I am wondering, how can I change the DIP Switch Settings for CPS1 Games since they do not really have BIOS/Configuration Menus? Is that something that can be an added Feature? Same with CPS2?
I tried the Diagnostics Enabled, Reset Game, Resume. Nothing but the Game Loading and running.

What makes you think they are not aware of this? It's pretty obvious to notice and saying it once should be enough. Repeating it every day won't make these emus magically run faster and doen't give developers any help on how to optimize them.

It could also be that getting fullspeed is NOT possible without rewriting a complete new emulator from scratch: Do you really think someone will do this just because some annoying random kid on a forum wants it? No, someone is going to do it ONLY if he has himself an o3DS and thinks it is an interesting and achievable challenge to HIM.

Keep in mind all emulator developers do this on their free time and most of them have more fun with coding than playing. They don't owe you anything and neither earn anything by making you happy so they likely do not give a shit about you crying about not being to play some games at full speed.

No, I think you are just another ill-educated kid who has been used to whine everytime he wants something. Too bad for you it does not work like this with emulator developers and you will just end up pissing off anyone around you, while still not getting what you want from them. Pretty useless way of spending your own free time if you want my opinion.

Thats why some of us think there should be an Retroarch 3DS FAQ somewhere....

Well you know, i've been a witness of the PC emulation scene for a looooooooong time. Thanks to developers who got conceited because their fanbase licking their arse some emulators got its development stopped for a loooooooooong time. N64 emulation could be more advanced by now, but its developers became entitled and didn't retake it until Pj64 developer saw a chance of monetize it. There's enough cases to make a point and a single fact: To this day, a console as complex as PS2 runs better on PC that the likes of N64 or Saturn.

Developers might be aware of it, but that doesn't mean they may care, and a complacent fanbase is toxic for that. I already made my point before so i won't write it again.

Ill educated child, troll, annoying O3DS user or whatever you think about me, i won't stop. Feedback it's feedback, and it's only bad when it's inaccurate or incomplete.

Developers don't need to be reminded that unstable alpha software is not perfect. They know far better than you ever possibly will just how imperfect it is and perhaps more importantly, nobody has even been suggesting that this unstable alpha software is perfect. You are not bringing any new, interesting or helpful information to the developers.

Quite pleasingly, most RetroArch cores will never be full speed or even close to it on the original 3DS, or even the New 3DS, for that matter. That this is so crushingly painful to you is pretty frigging satisfying, because if you're going to rampantly shit all over this thread, the good news is that you will never get what you want. RetroArch is not a 3DS project. It is a massively cross-platform project which is built around the entire concept that some hardware can't run some cores at reasonable speeds. There are certainly a handful of cores which may achieve full speed on 3DS, but whining about it will not make it happen any sooner or at all. Acting like a douchebag will only make people less interested in making you happy. Nobody wants to make a douchebag happy.

Also, everybody here already knows that you're not sorry for being annoying, because you are repeatedly and consistently annoying and with a shitty entitled attitude at all times. No one could possibly get the impression from your terrible, terrible behavior that you are sorry. Additionally, you can stop, to act as if god damned endless whining is the only possible way for you to behave is ridiculous. You clearly don't want to stop, which again, we all know, because you never stop, never listen, and never think.

Lastly, nobody thinks you're a troll, we all just know that you're an asshole.

Everyone needs to remember how thing got to this point and is still in alpha. Alias and Radius are porting over cores as they have time and its not always because it works. They are sometimes doing it in response to those who ask how it would perform. And let me say something, ALOT of these cores on a N3DS are doing much better than I expected. So everyone needs to keep this in mind as its not like these cores being ported over are 3DS specific. Everyone should just be thankful that we now have Genesis emulation and even FBA emulation. This is something we were using on our old R4i card but now can leave it at home on our next upcoming trip.

And last keep in mind that even Alias has a old 3ds that he is testing on. So keeping that in mind no one can say he is leaving the old users behind. I mean he can only do so much to get it working full speed and its no surprise that the N3DS models are seeing better advancements as it only has newer and better hardware.

Maybe the OP should add some FAQ and also make it in BIG BOLD letter that its an alpha build. That way no one has excuses to not at least read the 1st post.

...and this is improving retroarch how?

Giving actual feedback and making a point about something that is being blatantly ignored, to the point of its users being told to buy the new shiny product.

I'm fed up of it, and on top of that i'm being insulted when i didn't insult anyone. Given that case, i wont shut up now.

You aren't giving constructive feedback. You are whining and demanding.

You are precicisely the kind of asshole that developers detest. Due to your attitude, I predict fuck all of your requests will be even slightly looked at.

Grow up.

I meant the half page of bickering and name calling, with no mention of the pro's/cons of the retroarch project - it's not benefiting anyone, and it's just further clogging up a massive thread that's already very hard to search through for relevant information.

Anyone that's used any of the retroarch emu's, whether on old or new 3ds's, is aware of the failings of that particular port. A lot of people coming to this thread are looking for tips on how to improve the performance or information on why it's not performing better.

I understand where you're coming from - I'm using some of the retroarch emu's on o3ds myself (although, as I've got a n3ds too I'm favouring that while everything's still alpha), but this project will develop in it's own way. Which unfortunately for you and all the other o3ds users means that optimization will first be perfected for n3ds before o3ds.
