I am trying to install the spoof of the 5.5.0 update(following the guide on these forums). And I have followed the troubleshooting tips and so on. I have never used the wii browser before so I was opening a bunch of websites and restarting the wii. Anyway, every time I go to the site it will just freeze my wii u. I have been trying for 3 hours straight now and close to giving up. Any advice?

I'll try to delete the cookies, and posting in that thread gets buried pretty quick.

First you should probably read and ask all related questions for spoofing in the related thread

Second, did you try to delete cookies and type in the url. This always works for me.
Didn't work :(. I just tried it 4 times and no success.

I've heard success with clearing cookies, reboot and manually typing in url or open up 4 tabs and close browser and then open it up again and typing url in the 4th tab. I would try to ask the in the spoofing thread. there are many methods, but some only work for certain people/WiiU.

Hey, I'm having trouble as well. What did you actually do? Only delete cookies?
*edit* and on what website?
So what I did step by step was.
1. Open 4 youtube tabs.
2. Delete the cookies, then click the home button to go back to the main menu.
3. Press home button again so miis start walking around again
4. Power down wii u using the gamepad
5. Power on using the gamepad (I have quick start and standby disabled if that matters)
6. Typed in this url manually: "http://wiiutools.com/WUP/wupinstaller.html"
7. Once it kicked me out to the home menu i chose the browser
8. Typed in the link manually again
9. Install started

Thank you very much, it worked on the second try! :)

Good to hear
I got all of it to work, I also installed the latest mario maker update.
(I verified my version is 5.5.0E in system settings & made sure the mario maker update was installed)

Yet, when I start mario maker it says that the wii needs to be updated to apply a update to mario maker?

Check out the spoofing thread, The last couple of pages. They were chatting all about it. you'll probably find your answer there. I don't have Maker yet.

The latest Mario maker update version number is v1.10
Make sure that's the one you installed.
