Is the version I'm at now. I wanna play mario maker but I'd have to update to go online so I'm checking here before screwing it up, hopefully this will be useful to others too. Please answer these if you can.

1) what is the difference between 5.3 and 5.4 and why can't the latter run any hacks?

2) what is the difference between 5.4 and 5.5 and why have I been advised not to update?

3) are there any unreleased hacks that would make 5.3 and 5.4 essentially equal and have the developers any plans on releasing them?

4) same as previous but for 5.5.

5) is 5.4 ever getting a firmware spoofer?

6) why isn't there a homebrew launcher? I mostly want homebrew and this is pretty inconvenient.

I will retribute your kindness by being a good boy and support developers when I'm able to visit eShop.

1) hackers are always trying to one-up each other and if they put out a 5.4 exploit now somebody else will steal it and claim it as their own

2) 5.5 is a higher version than 5.4

3) There are so many unreleased hacks out there for 5.4 you just have to look on the deep web

4) same as previous but for 5.5

5) I'm writing it right now for you

6) They're waiting for you to complain about how inconvenient it is before they'll release.

These answers are nowhere except maybe the 560 pages thread. This could help a lot of people and also avoid these same repeated questions in there. But I guess using the word inconvenient was too arrogant. I'm sorry, kind sir.

Your answers are easily searchable but let me say this:

Each new software version closes more holes. If I was a dev I'd work on the holiest version available. When they're work reaches their (completely subjective and personal to the dev) quality standard they release- and most notable releases get their own thread. In the meantime whether you would rather play online or wait for home brew...it's really really a personal judgment call - I am playing online because Mario Maker is life, but I'll buy another wii if I can avoid paying $60 for wooly world so... There are exploits in 5.3.2, 5.4, and 5.5...if and when that will translate into an installable HBC is...written in the stars.

I guess I'd never thought about trying that. I suppose I kind of assumed people would be helpful and contribute to the community lol
People want to earn a reputation for making quality, stable releases. Buggy software and hype can garner all sorts of negative comments and stuff, unfortunately.
