OP
I have a bunch of .wad apps that i'd like to install on my vWii. I am able to install them, but when i try to open them i get a black screen and can't even force turn off the Wii U by holding the power button, so i need to pull out the plug.

The Homebrew Channel Forwarder is the only thing that work, but nothing else. What might be the case?
If you need more info about my vWii to see the problem then tell me.

which wad channel are they?

Wiiware and Virtual console, or forwarders?

The channels created with homebrew and custom tools were done for Wii only.
To launch them on WiiU vWii, you need to convert them. (look in the "forwarders are back" thread, there's a method to do it manually, or a tool released by JoostinOnline to do it automatically)

If you have issue with WiiWare, then I don't know why, sorry.

You could try to boot them with sneek or neek2o. it's a little complicated to create this environment, but it could help you.
instead of launching the channel from the real vWii NAND, you extract the channel's data USB and use a loader (like Wiiflow or USBLoaderGX) to launch them.
The advantage is that you can enable region free on neek.

It's not the fix you are waiting, sorry.

Are you sure the wads are working fine? they work on wii?

Did you touched/edited any IOS on vWii ? as at launch, the channels reloads the requested IOS it could be the issue, but you said all the wads are affected. I doubts you edited or reinstalled all your IOS, as all guides tells to not touch them.
The already installed channels are working ? (Mii editor, back to WiiU, etc.)

I didn't touch any installed IOS. I can use the Homebrew Forwarder Channel and all the pre-installed stuff.

pls, post a syscheck log so we can tell if you have done something wrong. (Check Cyan's signature)

^Can you re-confirm about these?
at least name some of the wads that don't work. Their full name when you installed them not just "Usbloader GX wad"
are your wads made for Wii?
have you convert them to use with vWii?
Are the wads the same region as your console or are they region free?

it would be hard to help you without proper info.

I've run into problems running some of my VC and Wiiware wads that work fine on my Wii. I never checked to see if any bytes were off from hdd or sd corruption, but I just went and found the titles again and they worked fine.

I will note, some of them do not want to load from the vWii menu (black screen), and I have to launch them from USBLoader GX to work (loaded from HBC). I'm using r1180 still. What difference this makes is beyond me, but it's how I have load them.

Also note, and i do not know why, Ocarina of Time loads from the vWii menu fine on most occasions, but every now and again I do get a black screen. The only thing I have installed IOS wise are vWii-cIOS 236,249,250. And also HBC of course.

Just leaving this here as a reference, as I have no idea why really. All my WADs are RF or US/NTSC.
