trust me they are unusable in the broken sense. not only are they broken in half, but the screens are shattered and pieces of plastic are missing. the most you could get from these are the guts on the inside....which makes me wonder if i could possibly swap out pieces with my current 3dsxl to get back that old firmware....this might be beyond my expertise though.
Send me one. I could use some extra hardware.

Honestly it'd be as easy as just opening them up and swapping the motherboards.

What were the vers?

i edited my previous post, they should be around 9.2, they were broken a little before november 2014.

if that's the case, and someone could walk me through it, i'd totally do it and send the other one to a dev that needs it.

I could use one. My XL is softbricked badly. N3DS titles on an O3DS. No nand backup either. Was attempting to update browser to get it to work.

What's the 3ds version?

Both broken systems are o3DSXL and they have to be on 9.2 or lower, they were both used regularly until they broke at the end of summer 2014.

Srsly send me one xD..

tell me about it. that was such a bad day.

edit: i'm not just gonna send them away if they will actually be of some use to me! i'd gladly donate one to a worthy dev if it helps the cause, but i'm really interested in swapping motherboards with my current o3dsxl if it's at all possible...

Here is a guide with pictures. If you put the motherboard from the broken 3DS XL into a working 3DS XL, and if everything works properly, you could sell them on eBay. But ya, removing the motherboard is pretty easy, just be careful of the socket clips.

alright, i'm gonna give it a shot today or tomorrow.

THANK YOU this is what i needed. alright y'all, wish me luck. i'll let everyone know how it goes. if i'm successful i will gladly donate the other broken system to a dev who will really put it to good use (and isn't just being a turd and trying to get free shit)

edit: the best part is that i can practice on the broken 3ds before disassembling my current one so i dont really fuck it up

You said you'd give to someone who has knoledge in devolpment correct?

nonono, i said i'd give it to a worthy dev who will put it to good use in the hacking and homebrew scene.
I have a friend who knows c+ development I should probably ask him about the homebrew scene...brb gonna see if he's online

Speaking of motherboards, I do have a US O3DS XL one somewhere because of a failed shell swap. A blinking LED when I attach the battery I would assume means it still works fine, I only ripped a ribbon cable. I want to install a NAND mod on it and rip the NAND. It probably wouldn't be much use I don't think, unless I can restore it on my PAL N3DS in the future. I'm totally dreaming though.
