I recently acquired a DSi XL from a friend, and he said it one day stopped working for no reason (Immediate Shutdown). I checked for water damage, and there was no sign. I thought the battery was the problem, but after buying a new one, the DSi continues to shutdown immediately. When turning it on, it flashes white on the top-screen and then shuts off in a span of .3 seconds. Can I have a diagnosis of the problem and how to fix (If at all?)

Definitely sounds like a fuse issue. I had an XL brought to me once that had an identical issue. It would charge fine, but it could never turn on.

I just fixed this problem twice on two different DSi consoles. Turns out the ribbon cable for one of the lcd screens was not seated properly. If you were to open it up all of the way and reseat all of the ribbon cables (even the ones under the motherboard), it should fix the problem. There are guides on how to open the DSi, just follow them and reseat all the ribbon cables.

I'll try these out then. Thanks for the info!

I literally just fixed this problem twice, it's crazy I see a thread like this. Yea, once I opened up the consoles, reseated all of the cables, carefully made sure everything was in place they started working like a charm.

it could be the screen. my xl did that and i replaced the screen, been fine since. of course try reseating the ribbons. its a simple enough procedure to do that.

the screen replacement SUCKS. i hate taking apart the top of a DS.

Bottom screen LCD and digitizer are the easier ones. But I definitely recommend reseating ribbon cables before replacing anything.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
