i'm not sure what happened, so if you mod the game even for single player and have a race consist of one lap the stats go online and you look like jerk?,or was this some kind of intentional screwery?

It was intentional screwery. Look the img closer.

Thing is, he edited the course to only complete just one lap for time trials. Because of this he has the world record by approximately one full minute over someone that actually plays MK8 and has skill.

Yeah, it's fun and all to cheat, but when you're doing it just to fuck with everyone, I mean, come on now.

@MrRean Don't let it get to you. He'll get banned and it'll probably be removed. Then we can use him as an example of why you shouldn't cheat online.

intentional screwery...
just check his note.
"bymal replaced for 1 lap = cheating in time trials x3"
He posted it on Miiverse...

meh, who cares though? i can see being mad if you're cheated against like if someone jacked me in smash. but he's racing against the clock. i dont know seems like mass reporting a nnid is just a little harsh but i guess he could be keeping things on the down low

Because he only had to finish one lap to complete the time trial. Every other person in the world (literally) has to do three. Time trials are coveted positions when you're trying to shave off even hundredths of a second, but for someone to just cheat and peel off a minute from what was a world-record time is incredibly unfair.

The reporting of his NNID will ensure that he can't just put all his hacks online for public display and wave his dick in others' faces because they can't be as elite (or lack thereof) as he is.

Yeah. Him publicly admitting that he cheated is like salt in the wound. A lot of the comments are stating how it's just going to go down the drain like MKWii did, especially when people were hacking online with item spam and whatnot. It ruins it for everyone except for those that do the hacking. The one edge Nintendo had with regards to online is now gone. Here's hoping that their NNID system actually works because if they can't ban players or consoles, it's just going to go downhill again.

that does sound kind of bleak.

Not to mention that now he's using hacks for cheating online, Nintendo can, at any time, bump up the minimum firmware version to be that of the latest to go online, which means that all the people on non-updated firmwares cannot play legit online anymore without updating or getting a second console.

sigh and this is my fault
Don't worry yourself!. I think the only way around this issue in future is either private by PM so you know who's who or using your new site only as a registered member because also you will have in the wild members who are probably downloading files of here without our knowledge! So as you could imagine, mass destruction!!!

Edit: Its a shame really cause I don't think anyone who is really interested in the exploit wants online hacking!

Eventually once Mario Kart 8 hacks become more commonplace it's going to be difficult to keep that stuff down. Eventually people will figure out the formats for themselves and start doing these hacks of their own accord.

Edit: Making these files private will delay the inevitable.
