Hello, I'm experiencing a really weird problem with my system and I'm at my wit's end.
I own a new 3ds 9.0U, with Reinand, Devmenu and Ninjhax with Pasta / FBI (Big thanks to
@usernametaken )

My problem is that everything I install on Emunand shows up on Sysnand and vice versa.
I Unlinked Sysnand and have the two giberish folders on my sd card. I've tried everything
but no matter what I do on emunand it shows up on sysnand and I've even bricked my 3ds
multiple times trying to update trough big blue menu even tough I'm on Emunand.

CIA games install and run on Emunand aswell as BBM so I know I'm on Emunand.

I also used Nighty's tool to inject the sysNand to the Emunand, could this be the problem? but
if it is how can I separate them now?

Thanks for your help

You should start from scratch - format the emunand again, follow the steps to get emunand back on reinand, take your SD card, format sysnand then, place SD card back in, viola! Make sure you install a cia loader (BBM and FBI) before formatting your sysnand without an SD in.

I did all this, from scratch, literally 5 times and I bricked my 3DS 4 times just running the update from BBM.

You ran the same tutorial as I did, to get emunand on Reinand, that's the reason you inject the sysnand into the emunand
right? I don't get why this works out for everyone except me :(

You don't need to inject anything. Literally all I did was wipe emu, ninjhax to pasta, pasta to FBI, FBI to Devmenu, SD card out, flash sysnand, back in, set MSET and downgrade through Ninjhax to FBI (all steps involved). After that, emunand works just fine and is untethered to sysnand. I installed BBM then updated my firmware on emunand.

Looks like your using an old version of Usernametaken's guide. I had the same issue with not being able to unlink the nands. Download and follow the newer guide off his pastebin, it'll fix it :)

OMG I will try this, he literally made that guide because of me so I was probably the first XD

@Spong92

Dude you're right! the new guide removed the step of injecting sysnand into emunand!
I will have to do everything again from scratch for the 6th time but if this works I will name
all my children a variation of Spong92 XD

You've solved your problem by following the newer version of the tutorial, but did we ever figure out what the issue was? Was it because injecting your sysNAND back into your emuNAND "relinked" them?

Yea I think so because I checked both guides and that's the only difference between the two. When you use the Nand injection tool they become permanently linked somehow, I was pulling out my hair because the tutorial worked for everyone except me XD

So you injected the backup and formatted sysNAND/emuNAND, but they didn't become unlinked? Are you certain you didn't format emuNAND and then inject the sysNAND backup?

Yea I reformatted Emunand and then in Step 3 Injected Sysnand into Emunand then my step 4 was install Reirop and so on, so I had an extra step that was in step 3 that got removed later. I don't know what was the original purpose of this step.

Just curious why are you interested in this? You don't have to do it anyway, or is there any benefit to injecting the Sysnand into the Emunand? All it did for me was link them permanently, Installed CIAs on Sysnand and bricked my system every time I tried to update.

What if you have a lot of stuff installed on sysnand and want to move all of that to emunand when setting up emunand.

Do you still have to inject the sysnand to emunand so it links the downloaded stuff (youtube and ironfall) to the emunand?

I followed the updated tutorial during my setup of emunand yesterday, but added the step (from the old tutorial) of injecting the backed up sysnand (backed up just before i created emunand) as I thought it would enable me to use my stuff I had installed previously on sysnand.

I made the mistake of creating a new NNID on sysnand as i wanted to install youtube on my sysnand before it was pulled.
I found that this gave an error when I tried to access the eshop on emunand.
So i had to format the system without the microsd card, and link the old NNID to the sysnand (through the eshop).
This now allow me to use the eshop on emunand.

Question:
Does this mean that my sysnand and emunand is now linked again.
Should i just do a format without the micosd card just to be sure its unlinked.

Should I do the whole process again without injecting the sysnand into emunand.
In another post I got a response that I should inject to keeping using my stuff in emunand that I had earlier in sysnand.

The updated tutorial seems like its creating an empty emunand (empty as it does not move the stuff that you may have had in sysnand before creating emunand).

I ask this as I dont want a brick if I updated from emunand as I dont have a hard mod.

Thanks!

As someone who bricked his 3ds 4 times with this tutorial, DON'T INJECT ANYTHING INTO ANYTHING! Just follow
the updated tutorial. Reformat the MicroSD and start from the beginning and unlink at the end. Then populate the emunand installing all
of your CIAs using Big Blue Menu. That's what I'm doing. Good luck!

Zeriel, how'd you unbrick your n3ds? Outta curiosity. I'm going to buy a rasberry pi, and hopefully get hundshamer to hardmod my n3ds, but I'd like to know for future reference.

Oh you don't need the Rasberri pi! What I did was very carefully take the 3ds apart then weld 4 wires into the motherboard.

What you need:
4 small cables you can rip from anywhere
1 SD card reader to USB, The best one to use is the Anker 3.0 SDcard/Microsd USB adapter. It's cheap
1 SD card adapter
1 Welding Iron and flux
Also the diagrams for the NAND points in the new 3DS XL motherboard, you can find them all in this forum
and most importantly a Backup of your Sysnand

The points you need to weld:
1.) Data0 2.) CLK 3.) CMD and 4.) Ground.

Just be warned the points are SUPER FUCKING SMALL LOL after you do that put everything back together and make a cable using an SD card to microSD adapter. Plug the contraption to your PC and say some prayers to whatever deity you believe in so it gets recognized by the PC. What you want is a 1.21gigawatt....ermm Gigabyte partition to show up (That's your 3ds NAND), then use Win32 Disk Imager to copy your NAND Backup to the 3ds. Pray some more and then your 3ds May come back from the dead XD

Hope this makes sense, It's a huge pain in the ass! but it's worth it. I can help you step by step. I will be out for the weekend but I return on Monday. Good luck!

I've set everything up per the updated instructions.
Seems like everything is working fine.
Is there a reason to update the emunand to 9.5 on the N3ds.
Or is reinand firmlaunch good enough?
If I updated to 9.5 would i be able to install cia files and change my theme using chmm?

Honestly I dont know if any games require it because most cias are firmware spoofed. Maybe for new releases like Xenoblade. I just know that I had to have it for some reason lol
