I am using garctool 1.3a
use this. Hold control and it will unpack .bin instead of the raw files, you can unpack those bin files by putting them in garctoold and they will give you the raw files, and once you edited the file you want put the raw file in garctoold and it will popup a message about it not being a GARC and asking if it would like to LZ11 compress the file, hit yes and it will generate the bin file and after it is done with that it will ask if you want to delete the raw file, do whatever you want with that file, delete it or idc what you do with it. just when you are packing it back as a garc don't have the raw file in the folder with the models, and repack the folder with the .bin files, it takes literally 3 minutes to repack the pokemon model folder into a garc, i would suggest having a reference folder with the raw files of the models so you more easily scroll through the pokemon models. This tool is a life saver for me. surprised kaphotics never released it, it's a billion times better than the normal garctool

Sounds like a lot of back and forth lol.
What I do is, I extract all of them, go through whichever ones I feel like editing (a lot in one go) and then repack. I do a lot of them in one go cuz repacking takes time.

it's actually REALLY easy and fast to do especially if you have a reference folder with the raw files, i would recommend doing that as it takes 3 minutes to repack the pokemon garc folder

Guys, I have a question:
How do you edit flames in some fire type pokemon like Infernape? Their "FireCore" textures are all in grey, recoloring them hasn't helped me.

lol I am gonna have a look into it later.

By the way, this is offtopic, but you use ReiNAND or custom firmware on your N3DS?
Does Xenoblade work with the custom firmware?

my little brother got a 9.0 N3DS as a gift, so I am trying to see if custom firmwares have any disadvantage over gateway.

It really doesn't matter tbh, gateway's only advantage is that it can play .3ds and .3dz and custom firmware only plays off of CIA, so either one works, if he does not want to get a gateway then i would suggest sticking with CFW

Does Xenoblade and N3DS exclusive stuff work with custom firmware?
And 9.9 emunand supported for N3DS with custom firmware?

The info is really hard to gather with bloody billion different launchers and everyone trying to be a 3ds hacker lol

And latest emunand is supported? You got a link to full guide on how to install custom firmware on n3ds :). Which one is the best anyway? Reinand?

Also, here is the Shadow Lugia texture edit by @Asia81. I could have edited one myself, but since he done it already, I just worked with that. Gave him credit in the description:

Extract the GARC, but compressed.
-------------------------------------
With GARC Tool, open a GARC, Press Ctrl, and hit Process in same time.
You will extract the GARC with compressed files.

Now, the file are compressed. You can't open any files in Ohana.
-------------------------------------
Open GARC Tool again.
This time, open a compressed file (like 279.bin).
You are asked if you want to delete the compressed file after the extraction.
If asked, hit Yes.
You have a new file (in our case, dec_279.164).
For compress this file again, open GARC Tool, open the dec_279.164 file, hit Process.
You are asked if you want to delete the decompressed file after the extraction.
If asked, hit Yes.
-------------------------------------

Like this, not even 2mn for rebuild the GARC xD

Yeah, but I already said it in PM for someone xD
So why not say it here too x)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

And use a old GARC Tool is useless, you can do it on the latest GARC Tool.
