ROM Hack Editing A Fire Emblem Awakening Save Without Cart

A friend of mine got one of those Powersave thingies and edited his save. I wanted to try it for myself but it only works for physical versions. I sadly purchased it on the Nintendo eShop for digital download.

I'm only asking because infinite stat boosting items would save me a lot of grinding. I won't be terribly distraught if this isn't possible.

The 3DS model is New 3DS XL and I've inserted a 64GB microSD into it.

Run CFW, install SaveDataFiller, dump your save, edit it and use SDF to write it back.
