It's hard to find information on which browser versions are not usable with Gateway, rxTools, etc. IIRC rxTools and ninjhax don't launch with anything below the -7 browser, and higher than the -22 browser. For Gateway, I'm not sure if the range is the same and I'm too lazy to test. We really need someone to clear this up for good lol.

Back on topic though @DonJuan835 , since no one is sure if your browser is in the correct range to use the browser exploit, the safest option is to update to 4.x with a game cart and use the mset exploit.

I hope this clears up the misinformation until we have more info about which browsers aren't exploitable. Actually, if you can grab the launchers for Gateway and rxTools and test the browser exploit on your 4.X.0-4U console (after upgrading to 4.X), please post the results, it would be helpful

Actually if you go to the ninjhax webpage it lists all the compatible browser versions.

Yes, that's what I'm basing it off of, but rxTools and Gateway don't really mention this information. Or it's all the same and I just imagined reading that someone couldn't get rxtools to launch with the -7 browser heh

He even has the chance of installing rxTools which basically does everything GW can. Oh, and its free so thats $100 spent somewhere better.

Take your meds before posting. rxTools might be better, I have no idea. All I can say is that I used GW (and I still have it). I managed to set up cfw and get everything working on my 3ds. However, it did not work on my 2ds nor did the cfw I set up work on a 3ds. It was also not compatible with some of the newer games unless I wanted to update the cfw. Also, if the battery dies, you are forced to go through the re-exploit again. This and all of the other things take time to learn and implement. I am sure I could have gotten everything working, but time is money. With the sky3ds, it is basically drag and drop. Everything just worked and still does despite each subsequent nintendo firmware update. So to clarify for the OP, for me at least, the sky3ds was the superior product. For rage boy above who lives in his mommy's basement and doesn't need to worry about things like girls and life, I am sure the the other solutions are far better.

None of this is nessacary. Use a game like Profesor Layton to upgrade to 4.3. Then, buy a cheap DS flashcart that works on 4.3 to install MSET. Then put rxTools.DAT on your sd card and start MSET. Settings => Other Settings => Profile => DS Profile.

Between those two, for ease of use, I believe the sky3ds is the better choice (which by the way was around $72 shipped).

Maybe mset, rxtools etc., are better choices for some or even most people. But even if there is no monetary cost, there is a transaction cost to get them and keep them working properly.

Hello, I am completely new to flashcarts/cfw on the 3ds. I have done a little research, and I am trying to decide between the two. I have cfw running on both my Wii and PS3, so I've done a little bit of installing in the past. I am interested in playing backups on my 3ds.

A Gateway 3DS is $70, and Cubic Ninja is $35-$45. It is my understanding that in order to run Pasta CFW you need to keep Cubic Ninja, so it can't be resold.

I would like to know which option is better for playing backups/roms on the 3ds given the price difference of about $35 between the two. Or, if there is another option that would be better for just playing backup games, please let me know. Thanks!

All the people telling you to buy a sky3ds are either on too high of a firmware so they are jealous or they paid 100$ and they are jealous you can do what they can better for free. Sky3ds you have to click a button to switch games and you can't see what game it is choosing. You have to click the button and scan through a list of games. Plus sky3ds would limit the games you could ever load on it to 10 so you would have to buy another and another sky3ds, CFW came out and they conveniently changed this. Gateway Bricked consoles at one point by choice to "get back at those that buy clones" so at one point you have to make the true decision and say fuck those flashcart magnufacturers they want to CHARGE money like they invented the nintendo 3ds. I remember for the normal DS the carts were only worth 20$ tops and they could play games with a GUI(not a fucking clicker that you have to scan through games) Sky3ds was a mediocre solution to begin with. CFW is like a 7/10 solution(only thing missing is launch on bootup) I would get pasta all day.

I bought a 3ds limited edition with ocarina in 2011 beat ocarina and ended up returning the 3ds and game to bestbuy. 4 years later I find out about cfw, I head to gamestop buy a used 3ds for 120$(128$ with tax) a 64gb Sandisk SD and I didn't have to drop 100$ for an incomplete device. If the flashcart worked like the old r4 for regular DS then I would say its close on which one is the better option, however the sky3ds is so limited it should be worth 20$ max. I wonder what happened to r4 lol.

r4 still around may not be the same people but still operating from the same company name. I loved the r4 here's a few of my flashcarts

This is not true. Updating to something above 4.5 and below 9.3 will leave him with an old browser, which is probably too old for most of the hacks. He then will not be able to downgrade.

If you're below 4.x, use a cart to update to 4.x. Do not update past 4.x.

If you really *must* go past 4.x, you need to use a cart to update to 4.x, then hack it, then install the browser through hacking it.

If he's on 4.x and really wants to update to a newer firmware (i.e. 9.0), he COULD use sysUpdater (For the love of God, DON'T USE v4B - It'll brick) in sysNand (NOT IN GW MODE! He could boot rxTools, in sysNAND/dev mode).

Gateway only work on 4.0-9.2, you need to update your fw, SKY3DS can work on all n3ds/3ds/2ds with any Version, and you don't need to buy Cubic Ninja since SKY3DS can work on it as a genuine card does

And just a by the way, use devmode. rxTools sysNAND loads an upper firm like GW mode.
