Hardware Purchasing the appropriate console.

Hello all.

I am planning to purchase a new 3DS so that I may obtain a firmware of 9.x-9.2. I may buy from a friend an unopened purple 3DS that was purchased in late december 2014/ early janurary 2015, but I am unsure what firmware it comes with since the box is still sealed. Would anyone happen to know what firmware it would come packed with?

The sealed purple 3ds will likely even be below 4.5. 100% chance of hackablility assuming it's truly unused.

I didn't want him to take it out of the box In case it was the wrong firmware, because then I wouldn't be buying it and then he wouldn't be able to list it as 'new and sealed in box' on ebay.

Manufacture of the orig 3ds ended in 2013/early 2014 so there is no way it's > 9.2. Not unless it's been opened recently.
I bought an old JPN 3ds new last year and it was 4.5.
