Just wondering how cia files work and what rthye can do and how i use/install them. Anyone know i site which has the latest cia files for each game. I mostly need pokemon y omega ruby and super smash bros . Thanks!!

Cias are archives, encrypted on a digital downloadable format, that allows you to install anything since games, homebrew, emulators,etc. If you're asking about how you can install a Cia, welp, you have some methods to do it, if you could tell us the FW of your 3DS, I (and many, many other people) will know if your firmware is able to be hacked by an specific CFW, now, if you could tell us the firmware of your 3DS, it would be helpful, just go to system settings and check the upper screen, on the lowest eastern part, there are some numbers in there, that is the firmware version your console has.

CIA are a file system used for the 3DS they can range from system titles found on the Nand to apps and games from the Eshop lately people have been taking .3DS dumps and converting them to the CIA format for easy installation to an SD card. Also please dont ask for ROM dumps its not allowed on this forum try googling 3DS CIA the first link is what your looking for.

Well, i must say, your chances to use a CFW are lower than expected, but still possible, the thing is, you'll need an specific game, that game is called Cubic Ninja, a simplistic platforming game, there's nothing so special about the game, except, the fact that you can use the QR Loader of that game to run something called Ninjhax, Ninjhax it's a piece of software that allows you to run unsigned code on your 3DS. In practice, this means being able to run homebrew applications such as games, tools and emulators!.

And once you downloaded all of your archives on the SD, take attention to this video:


Once you do all of these stuff, you can finally have a proper CFW on your New 3DS on 9.00, the only catch it's that you need a copy of the game earlier mentioned, it's kinda expensive or cheap depending on where you buy it, if you can't find it on stores, go check Amazon or any website of your country that has this exact game.

If you're asking about a method to not use Cubic Ninja, well, there is none, all the other CFW's are only able to run on Old 3DS (Some cases 2DS) in 4.xx - 9.2, like RxMode, and if you really want to play backups of game, without the homebrew itself, you can use either Gateway 3DS or Sky 3DS, if you feel like it, naturally, you can't run homebrew on those flashcards, so, better go hunting a physical copy of Cubic Ninja if you want the cheaper and reliable method.

Rip a header from a game using gateway rom patcher 1.1 just dump a 3DS rom from a new game you own using the gateway menu dump cartridge function and don't sell it or share the game with anyone.

Note CIA's do not require headers only .3DS roms on your red card.

i bought my gateway from ozmodchips and he loaded gateway on for me cause he had a cubic ninja already

yeh i have a header right now got it a few days ago and put it onto the rom but still cant go online it says that i need to update my console to play online even with the header on it

You need the latest "game" update from the eshop use this while in gateway Sysnand mode to get the updates for all your games or really anything you want

No do you have an app called titlemanager on your 3DS? if not search for BigBlueMenu in google run the .3DS version from your gateway card while in Sysnand (Hold B while pressing boot gateway mode and click X to boot gateway Sysnand mode) the install the CIA version of title manager (found in the SDMC tab) then from there run it on the 3DS home screen (not using the gateway card) and install that CIA I linked.

Unless you've formatted the 3ds for Emunand while in the gateway menu (this deletes everything on your SD card) you would need to go into system setting to see if it says GW3D (note leaving system settings after checking for GW3D will kick you back into sysnand).
