I have $59 in eshop credit, I need helping deciding on how best to use it.
I can't bring myself to use any of it until I decide how I'm going to use the rest.
So I need your collaboration to come with up a shopping list.

Here's one I thought of off the top of my head, but I'm probably leaving out some good games:
$5 Zelda
$5 Zelda II
$15 Resident Evil Revelations (on sale, normal price $40)
$15 Shovel Knight (no idea if I actually want this, but this list is just an example)
$8 Mega Man & Bass GBA (another example)
$10 left over

I probably shouldn't get full priced games because it makes more sense to get the physical version, for resale value, and because it will probably be cheaper physically.
But I don't know.
Do WiiU games use online passes? If so then I probably get those games digitally.

Oh, you reminded me. All games I get must have off-TV play. (the system is not hooked up to a TV)

I have never played them. However I once read a blog/article that said Zelda I and II are the best two games in the series and that every other Zelda game sucks.

This piqued my curiosity.

I'd strongly suggest just emulating the two of them. Unless you have a taste for fairly directionless retro games, and ones that will beat your ass brutally in the case of Zelda 2, I can't say spending money on them is the best idea. Also, whoever said that is really, really stuck in the past. I can accept people who think A Link to the Past is godly in the world of Zelda games, but everything before it is basically for retro fans only.

Very very few people share that belief. Like Nathan Drake said, emulate them to see if you like them first, and if you do, buy them on the eshop. If you don't believe in piracy, look up some videos of them. They are VERY outdated, and rely on crazy persistence and skill to even get half way in. In both games you will probably need to follow a guide to beat them, and even then it will be difficult.

If you want to enjoy Zelda I and II you're probably better off first playing some of the easier (and better thought out for that matter) Zeldas like A Link to the Past, which is on the Wii U eshop btw.

If you'd consider a game that's not on your list then look up Child of Light, but again, if you've got it on PC/Vita/PS3/PS4/X360/XO then it's understandable why you'd ditch it. Beautiful game all around.

I wish Ubisoft would make a sequel while just as good but far longer.

I wouldn't bother with Shovel Knight. Unlike the other console ports, it doesn't have extra content.

Xbox = Battletoads
PlayStation = Kratos
Nintendo = *crickets*

Does the PC version have any additional content like Xbox and PS or it's just as is on the Wii U (+ 3DS)?

It's a damn shame that my favourite version of Shovel Knight is on Xbox with Battletoads, this isn't saying I hate XO but its multiplatform games are such inferior ports when compared to the PS4. (Project C.A.R.S ~ XO: 900p, 60fps / PS4: 1080p, 60fps). The spines on the UK XO covers are so 'meh' too, it's just a grey background with white text or whatever. Pretty lazy of Microsoft and/or whomever worked on those spines.

Hey you know what would be neat, if Sonic 4 Episode 1 and Mr. Driller WiiWare were available as WiiU, off-TV play games. I don't see why not, but unfortunately it will never happen since Nintendo probably assumes you would just play them in Wii mode on the TV if you really wanted to.

Personally I don't care about that, for me the only question is whether the game is worth getting in the first place.

Doesn't have anything extra.

That's a bummer but with PC modding they can always add whatever they want to it. :P

Mr. Driller's great and a timeless game but Sonic 4 Episode 1 and/or 2 once you've 100%'d them there's nothing else to it really. Sonic 4 doesn't have much replayability aside from acquiring Super Sonic. This reminds me, I've not collected every gem in Sonic 4 Episode 1 for Super Sonic but whatever, not like I played it for a whole lot (the gameplay felt really slow and awkward anyway).

It's quite enjoyable, albeit really short. That said it should be a lot cheaper on PC, hence i recommend to get it there instead of blowing money on the Wii U port.

Someone mentioned 'Don't starve' which has a special edition on Wii U. I would rather get that.

Turns out RE Revelations is available on disc. Doh!
What if the wiiu eshop doesn't even have $59 worth of games worth getting.
What about Bombing Bastards? That seems okay.

I'll probably try the demos of various games before deciding.
I don't see myself convincing myself to get a disc game downloaded, since I'd invariably wish I'd got it on disc instead.

I could try getting Mario kart since that way I can always play it without having to switch disc. So i can meet up quickly with ppl online. I liked Mario Kart Wii so its a pretty safe chance I will like MK8.

I've heard Pushmo is an excellent game. You could pick up Pushmo World. It's a puzzle game so idk if you're into that. If you like (easy) RPGs, I heard Child of Light is fantastic.
I personally adore the Advance Wars series, so I would recommend Advance Wars on the GBA Virtual Console, but I don't think it's for everyone.

All of these have off t.v. play.

If we go with your Resident Evil reference, which on a sidenote is an awfull game, wouldn't that mean you will regret getting MK8 as digital copy? The physical copy is also at least 15 bucks cheaper than the e-shop one.

The advanced Wars series is great, but you are better off just emulating it.

You could also add in a couple more dollars and pick up a game like DK Tropical Freeze if you don't mind spending it all in one place.
