Hello, I am new to GBATemp and I was wondering if the community here could help me by answering some questions that I have about the Gateway flash cart. Ok first off, some background information. I currently have a 3DS, but it is the firmware 9.4.0-21 so I am thinking of getting a new 3DS, as I would be able to use Gateway and have an improved system. Currently, I have a NNID connected to the 3DS. I wanted to make sure of some things before I bought the new 3DS. Ok here are the questions.
1. If I bought a new 3DS I would be able transfer my saves and downloaded content from the eShop from my old 3DS to my new 3DS right?
2. If I got the Gateway what steps would I need to take in order to set up the Gateway and separate emunand and sysnand? Would I be able to keep my saves if I separated the two? Please write the steps out because I do not want to mess up my new 3DS if I get it.
3. Is installing the MSET for the new 3DS safe? As I stated above, I do not want to use Gateway if it would end up bricking my 3DS. I know that a brick is always possible, but anyone who has done it, please give me advice so I know what to do.
Thanks and have a nice day!

Plan on doing a lot of reading on this board, just giving you a few hastily written directions would be a giant disservice to you as you would likely screw up badly. We have stickies, a tutorials section and a noob thread all filled with tons of valuable information. If you want a plug and play solution get a sky3DS. Basic gateway is fairly simple but what you want to do is not so simple so you need to read up on it a lot.

1. maybe. It depends upon the fw of both the source and target system and your ability to run certain exploits. See the thread on spoofing firmware to gain eshop access,
2. The gateway user manual available on their website has all the steps you need to set it up. You can format sysnand or emunand after creating emunand to separate the two. There are probably no less than 100 threads here that discuss this very situation including pros and cons.
3. Yes it is safe. The very first thing you need to do is make a NAND backup so if you do screw up you don't have a permanent brick. The most important thing to remember is backup, backup, backup.
